Default New 8330 curve won't go into mass storage mode

Please Login to Remove!

Hello - I bought a new factory-sealed curve on ebay (my old one got damaged), and it works perfectly except it won't go into Mass Storage mode when connected in a PC. Even though it shows up in Device manager, and works fine with Desktop Manager and Roxio.

In Media Options, everything looks perfect. It even acknowledges that the card is there (and I can access the card on the BB just fine). I tried changing options and changing back. didn't help

Other than walking me through a hard reset, Verizon support was stumped.

Reformatting the card didn't help. Using a different card didn't help. (but my card works fine in a different blackberry) Trying a different PC didn't help. Ditto on a battery pull. Uninstalling/Reinstalling DM didn't help.

I'm out of ideas. Very frustrating. The seller did offer to swap it, but I have to send it back, and so switch back to my old cracked one for 7-10 days and then switch back to the new one, and hope it doesn't have some issue as well (and I don't know if a new one will work differently). Admittedly this is merely an inconvenience as long as Roxio works, But it is annoying.

any thoughts?

What's your setting under options > media card > auto enable mass storage when connected?

Have you tried toggling between on and prompt?

Yes - I've tried changing the setting, changing it back, etc. under many different scenarios (like rebooting in-between).

Do you have a password? You may have to enter it before it will connect.

Also was the BB formerly on a BES? Sometimes BES administrators put additional security restrictions and you would have to remove the settings.

What's your OS? Upgrade to the latest version and see if that helps.

4.5.0.138.

I could try an upgrade I suppose, although from what I read here I might be trading problems for others. Let me see if I have everything I need to revert back, and I can take an afternoon and try it.

thanks!

Take a look at KB19717-The BlackBerry smartphone is not detected as a USB Mass Storage Device when connected to a computer.

Thanks - that's not for 8330 (only 8500), and if you try it in command-line mode, you can see the response "wrong device"

Did you search for another solution along the same lines but for you model?

I didn't catch that it was specific to model..... I was looking at the idea.
