83xx series is probably one the easiest models to do yourself.

Do a youtube search and you will find many videos on how to replace.

Take a q tip and a drop of alcohol and rub around area. Hopefully, its just lint or dust. The phone is a bit old and do break

With that level device, you may want to decide if its worth fixing.

If it's a scrolling issue, press down on the trackball and try to scroll up/down or left/right. Chances are some dust or lint got trapped and doing tha might help to dislodge it.

Do a Google search to find instructions to remove the trackball so you can remove any dust. It is pretty easy to do and should take no more than 2 minutes. I have done it several times and it makes a huge difference.

If cleaning it does not help you can buy a replacement part for <$10.

Looking for the trackball dome button (didn't even know what it was called) and found it at that site you posted. Thanks for the help.

I also have the same problem. It is not an issue on device. It appears to be a problem in the software.
