Where does this rumor come from? I'd be really surprised if that happened.

I hope there is; I love the support for TeleNav and Mobile Voice Cobtrol. This has kept me from jumping to T-Mobile

Nextel is way overpriced. $50 for unlimited data that isn't even high-speed is getting really old. Also their voice plans are one, if not, the most expensive of any other carrier. To top it off, their coverage sucks. I am paying $120 a month for data with 900 minutes voice & PTT. I could go to Tmobile for about half that. Nextel/Sprint needs to wake up.... I am switching as soon as this contract is up. I SERIOUSLY doubt you will see an 8100 come out of them before NEXT Xmas. They seem to be a little over a year behind everyone else.

The markets that will be pushing iDEN are no longer in North America. Look to Japan and Korea to see where the future of iDEN is. If neither sprout support for the 7100i device, then I doubt we'll see another iDEN BlackBerry. If there is a large support base, then they may get the balls rolling again. BlackBerry won't last long in Japan without an updated device, so keep that in mind - TOO much competition elsewhere.

Actually I am a former Gold Level Nextel dealer. We sell tons of BB's and I have a great relationship with my Sprint/Nextel rep and the RIM rep for our area. Just passing along what I have been told....

When's the last time you checked the Web? Unlimited is $39.99 and the voice plans are very comparable to the rest of the industry. No one will ever be as cheap as TWhore but Sprint Nextel voice plans are in line with Cingular and VZ.

Japan is not a market that is interested in mobile corporate e-mail. The only people who really want it there are us Gaijin.
The lone iDEN provider in SK just got the 7100i, and I'm not even sure why. In both Japan and SK, iDEN is really only used for its original intended purpose, which is extended two-way radio.

At the VERY most, Nextel might get a 87XX Blackberry but I would not hold my breath for that. The new Nextel phones are on Sprint system for voice. It is only a matter of time before Sprint starves the Nextel users for new technology giving them little choice except to switch to sprint.

Dude, when was the last time YOU checked? You are supposedly a dealer and you don't even know your own pricing? Unlimited is $50 and 5MB is $40. 900 minute plans are $60. That is $110 for a crap plan not including insurance on the phone and taxes. My bill is usually around $120 or so. Check the web yourself. I don't really care anymore though because I just dumped Nextel yesterday and am going with T-Mobile... gettting the new Pearl.

I just checked and the unlimited data says its on sale for $39.99, same price as the 5MB plan.
Of course, this was also as if I was setting up new service. Existing users very well may have to pay $49.99, which from what I have seen, is the most expensive around on a US carrier.

These are the new prices, it use to be $39.99 [unlimited] and $29.99 [5mb]. For those of us that have been BB users before the change are still on the old pricing plan.

I was on the phone with nextel blackberry tech support yesterday. I told him I knew the sprint 8703e was coming out shortly and asked if it was going to have 2-way. He said no, but offered that the nextel version would be coming out by the end of the year? You'd think that nextel might let something out or even announce it if this is the truth. There have to be a bunch of 7520 owners that have abandoned ship if they've been lusting after all these new units, like I have, ever since the 8700c was released. LAST NOVEMBER!!!
