That normally means the phone was reported as stolen and the IMEI has been barred from the network.

What happened 3 weeks ago that caused the phone to be barred?

Contact your carrier and see what they say.
Was anything done to it (or did anything change) 3 weeks ago. What happened 3 weeks ago?

Nothing in particular happened....I tried to call somebody and it didin't worked..just a mesage with"call failed". I called the carrier and they told me that according with their system my phone has all the wright settings, it appears like is working ok, I even changed my SIM at their suggestion because they tought maybe is smh wrong with the SIM. That didin't worked either so finally they told me that maybe is sth in the BB settings that only the company in charge can help me.
Obviously it didin't sound like a very competent explanation coming from them so here I am trying to find out what may be the problem from people that actually can help me. And tk you for that.
And I also tried with a different SIM number and is the same.

What does "only the company in charge can help" mean?

What company? In charge of what?

well i gues they where talking about the Blackberry company or sth..it was the only thing that made sense...the actually response was sth "...that means that youre phone has some prbl since it was made..maybe some fabrications errors, you should try and contact them and see if for your BB type they have some inside code to fix the error "....
that's what they said...so I was assuming they were talking about the producer..and obviously for me wasn't very clear how a phone can have these kind of prbls and yet is out for sale...but i guess they were only trying to get rid of me..
Does that make some sense to you?

No. Not to me, it doesn't. Also, it's difficult to understand what you're trying to say in your text speak. There is only one company that makes BlackBerry devices, and that is Research In Motion. I work for a company and when a user tries to call support for a device that my company purchased, they are told the same thing, since they don't have access to our account. Only authorized users on the account can call into support.

I believe that the device was purchased by a company and the support person on the other line knew you were not an authorized user for that account, thus they couldn't give you the information you were looking for.

Or there is the chance, that this device was lost/stolen and you found it and are trying to use it as your own, but the company who purchased it has already reported it as lost/stolen.

That's just my two cents.

MM6 means the phone is being blocked by the carrier. Not a hardware error.

well...point taken but considering that i pay a monthly fee for the bb data plan and i have a bb app world, bb protection account (if these are the accounts you're talking about) i really doubt that i stole or found the phone.

i changed my SIM at the exact same store where i bought my phone, they acces my account and yes...that was their explanations. i also change two carriers on these phone in two different countries and it worked just fine even with the swich and new carriers settings and everything.

is true i don't understand the technical details about phone, carriers, settings...not more than the basics but i do know when some incompetent employee gives me a lame explanation just for the sake of it or simply because is way above his knowledge...and that was what i got when ask for support at my carrier.

i really appreciate your support but don't patronize me....

Not patronizing you. Just giving you the facts.
And we've seen plenty of stories about found or missing BlackBerrys.

The phone is barred by your carrier. Your issue is with them. And not the store or some guy. Contact the carrier.

However, you failed to get a detailed explanation from that "incompetent employee" to understand exactly what was meant by the statement.

And it's still unclear (to me at least) if you were told that "only the company can fix it" and to you that "company" is RIM (the "producer" of the phone) why you came to a volunteer forum that is not associated with RIM to get a solution instead of trying to contact RIM.

Although that really isn't going to get you anywhere because as noted above numerous times, the problem is with the carrier.
