Good day all,

I am a new owner of "the blackberry" (Bold 9780). Pleased as punch except it has the odd tantrum and refuses to work properly on occasion requiring the batterypull.

One worrying incident was the refusal to accept incoming text messages. Everything else was working fine. Web Browsing, phonecalls, BBM, I could even send text messages but not receive any. Again, a battery pull did the trick, but the point is that the BB failed and there was no way of knowing that it had failed until someone told me they had been texting me for days.
So, aside from sending a text message to myself every hour, is there a way to know that the BB is misbehaving?
(or better yet, is there any way to stop it misbehaving?)

i would double check with your provider to ensure that the
Service Centre number in the SMS Options on yor BB are correct.

I really don't have a solid answer for you. If it were me, I would first search on your symptoms and see if there is any discussion on that problem, and what the solution is. I'm guessing the solution is going to be upgrade the OS, and that would be my next step, if it were me.

What are the other issues you are having the necessitate a battery pull?

What third-party/aftermarket apps and/or themes have you installed?

Hey folks - don't want to threadjack, but I'm having precisely the same issue.

I just activated my phone last night, and am mostly pleased with it thus far. However, I have sent text messages to multiple people in the last 12 hours, and I confirmed that they were received. To double-check my results, I sent a text to my work BB, and it was delivered. When I replied from my work phone to my new BB, I did not receive the reply.

Is there are a way to remedy this?

Make sure that SMS is enabled on your account. SMS is typically a phone issue, not a BB one.

Well I'm the biggest idiot. I had SMS blocked on my 8330m (using CrunchSMS), and when I restored my data, the setting remained.
