8700c MP3 ringtones

Day 1 for the new phone. I like it. Upgraded from the 7011g, only had a week. Treo 650 before that. Some web pages wont show. The Treo showed any page that I went to. Anyone? The keys are a little close. How do you assign a mp3 ringtone to contacts?

I don't know about MP3 ringtones yet, haven't downloaded any yet, but to add a custom tune to a specific contact:
Edit contact,
Menu,
Add costom phone tune,
Menu,
Change option.
Don't' forget to save!
Hope this helps.

You can also do it in the Profiles, Menu/New Exception.
Hope this helps.

I wish it supported ADP as there a couple great websites that have alot of ADP ringtones on it. The ringtones I have for my Razr won't work on the Blackberry. I guess the Mp3 is too large in size. I have been expirementing with the software that has been discussed on the forum boards to get the Mp3's to work. No luck yet but I think I know where I made the mistakes so hopefully when I sit down to try again it'll work.

I am using Audacity to create an mp3 ringtone but not having any luck. I have it set to 56 bits, 32000khz, and I am making sure the file is not larger than 120k.
It sounds great in my media player. After I upload to my web server and try to grab it with my 8700, all I get is a click on the player in the phone.
Any ideas what I might be missing?

Here are some requests
Sex in the City - on the loud side
A section of really loud tones with distinctive rings- why - like say I am cycling or something in a super noisy environment.
I Love NY - new Madonna song
Artchie Bunker yelling for Edith to get the Phone
I am sure people will have others.
A BIG THANKS

I too use Audacity, (sucessfully) and I found it necessary to cut and paste the stereo track after editing to a mono track before exporting. After any editing go to the Project Menu and add an AUDIO TRACK. Then select your edited double track, from start to finish. Copy this selection and paste it into the new track. Now delete the stereo track and then export it. This should work, if I've made myself clear.
Hope this helps.

Two questions: I have a few ringtones on my 7100g that I'd like to recover from that phone to put on my 8700c. Is there I way to transfer the songs between phones via bluetooth so that I can send them wirelessly to the 8700c?
Also, where are downloaded tones kept on the blackberry phones, which directory? I've searched and searched but can't find them without being in an option where one can assign sound.

Thanks Rcbjr. You have made yourself very clear.
I figured out what I was doing wrong. I was allowing Audacity to export in ID3v2 instead of ID3v1. As soon as I switched to v1, all worked great.
Thanks again!

I found the yahoo ringtone site but it asks what phone you're using. Since the blackberry is not an option, what phone type did you use

8700r ringtones
Hey all,
I have an 8700r that I have just bought from Rogers wireless and I have been having a hard time finding ringtones for it, much like some of you have. I downloaded a program that allows me to edit an mp3 to the point were it will allow me to play it on my phone, however I have no place to post it so that I can see if they will work or not.
so I was wondering 2 things:
1) I was wondering if anyone new of anyway that I can post my edited mp3 of Chariot - Gavin Degraw on a site so that I can attempt to see if I can dowload it and if rogers provides the same server to their blackberry clients as cingular does.
or
2) If anyone is willing for me to send them the song and they can maybe post them on their website or server?
If it's successfull I promise to create more mp3 ringtones for all us 8700 users to share and use. But, if it isn't successfull, well...I will continue to play around it works.
Thanks alot,
Ashachar

The easiest way I have found to download self-created ringtones is to simply email it to a gmail account, login to your gmail account on your BB, download and save.
