Come on RIM. This is getting crazy. Get your coders/testers/QA folks off their asses and release the DST patches already. Some of us have a few thousand devices deployed and we still have to test. The patch was supposed to be released Feb. 5th but was delayed. How much longer do we have to wait???

I find it horrible that the DST changes have been known since August 2005 and vendors (not just RIM) are just starting to release patches. How long does it take to write and test a patch? Did everyone ignore the changes until the last second? Shame, shame, shame.

AMEN! Do they think us admins like waiting until the last minute to apply this patch? I can only apply patches on Sunday afternoons, and that now leaves 4 open Sundays before DST hits.

The Blackberry website now states that the patch will be available on Feb 12th, and there is a link to sign up for updates.

I won't believe it until AFTER Feb 12th and AFTER the patch has been released and AFTER it is successful.
Methinks the patch is delayed because the darn thing didn't really work the way it was intended and now RIM has to make it right in a big hurry.

Well, think of it this way. I saw on an e-mail list that Good won't be releasing their client or needed server patches until February 28.

Microsoft just released their Exchange-side Calendar Update Tool late in the week. Other vendors still haven't released updates. Microsoft's update for Dynamics CRM 3.0 is slated for March. hah.

But yeah, a lot of ball-dropping. And not the least of them would be Microsoft's delay in getting OS updates (for SOME operating systems) released just a little over a month ago, in December. I think that had a lot to do with the delays.

But on to RIM, if you've noticed, it seems they've changed the mechanism by which they're releasing this patch, from the single patches to the patch manager method. I like the latter choice for deployment MUCH better - only one thing to worry about sending to the users. If the cause of the delays has been this (in addition to last week's limited beta of it), then so be it. We still have 4 weeks left before the DST changes go into effect.
