Has anybody tried to get AmazeGPS (http://www.amazegps.com) working on their phones? I cannot even get the site to serve up the midlet to me.

There are five versions that can be downloaded directly from getjar.com.

Here are the direct download links:

http://download.getjar.com/downloads...maze_3_102.jar
http://download.getjar.com/downloads...maze_3_102.jar

All will load onto my 8100, but only the last one 11949 will actually run. However, I can't get past the second screen (asking to confirm the language selection). Anyone else care to try?

Note that certain versions of BES may not allow files of these size to be downloaded. If you get a "too large" error, switch to using the internet browser.

AmazeGPS 4.0 is now available for the Pearl, 8800, 8310, 8820, 8830.

I've downloaded it on my Bell Mobility 8830 and it works fine. Completely free!
The interface is no way near as polished as with Telenav but the voice turn by turn direction works fine.

Check it out:

Thanks for letting us know! I just downloaded and tried it out.

I was using Wayfinder 6 and Amaze has most of the same features.

One thing I noticed is that the maps do take much longer to load, but they appear to be more detailed than wayfinder...and it's FREE!

I tried AmazeGPS on my 8300 (downloaded it as a pearl). Other than it not knowing what my keys were exactly on my 8300, the program seemed to work fine.

However, it was just a so so program.

It was:
Slow to download maps. Too slow to keep up with my car traveling.
Slow to get to the menu that i wanted to
Slow to input a simple address (takes way to many clicks and movements)
Blackberry-friendly ESC and MENU buttons have no real integration :(
Could not find a Yellow Pages listing that I knew existed.
Clunky
Clumsy

However again,
It is FREE
It shows promise
Nice Voice - even reminded to be a safe driver
Its FREE
Has a weather icon that sites in the corner that I assume will update when you travel.
Voice Directions

I already uninstalled AmazeGPS.

I am happy with Telenav and deal with the 10 dollars a month just fine, but I am looking forward to the advancement of AmazeGPS and expect that it won't be free forever.

Sometimes you get what you pay for.

Although I try every one out there... I'm a great guinea pig.

I installed amazegps but it doesn't work at all. However it doesn't show up in Options -> Advanced Options -> Applications. How do you uninstall the application?

Edit: I have a non standard setup. I am running the Desktop Manager on a Mac through a VMware Fusion virtual machine using WinXP. I was unable to install amazegps through OTA (download failure over and over) and couldn't install through Desktop Manager in WinXP (error: "USB device you are trying to connect to the virtual machine is being used by another application."). So I installed the app through PocketMac SyncManager. Amazegps shows up as an application on the BB but doesn't run- simply bombs out. When trying to uninstall I noticed amazegps does not show up as an application in the BB Advanced Options or as an installed app in the Desktop Manager. It does however show up as a Module on the BB. It was therefore impossible to uninstall through the BB or through Desktop Manager. The solution was to uninstall using the same software used to install- namely PocketMac SyncManager.

In conclusion it seems that some apps installed using PocketMac SyncManager might not install the same way Desktop Manager or OTA installs them. This is purely conjecture on my part.

Sorry for being long winded. Just wanted to explain what happened for future reference.

Thanks
