Hi, I have a question about the product. I received it yesterday and have been playing around with it.

When I turn it on, the phone is not automatically picking it up (after the first discovery). Do I have to rediscover the device every time i want to use it?

Thanks!

It shouldn't be necessary to rediscover the device each time. Sometimes the connection gets lost and the only way to get it back is to turn Bluetooth off on the BB and turn it back on. if that doesn't work, reboot the device. This seems to be an issue with the OS, not the puck, since it does this to me with two different pucks that I have. I notice the problem most in TeleNav.

I do both - I check the flashing light (which turned blue when it got a signal) and look at Google maps. I have to say that over the past week, I have not been able to get a signal at all, no matter how long I wait. I'm assuming it's a bad unit, and I need to get a replacement.

I like BBMaps for checking my bluetooth GPS signal. It has a start GPS and stop GPS function and will show you how many satelites it's receiving at a given time. I don't use it much for anything else, though, as Google Maps and TeleNav do the best job for me.

The promotion for this GPS direct from Freedom Input has ended at the end of August. They can be purchsed online from many e-retailers including this one:
