Default New comer to BB needs some advice

Please Login to Remove!

I'm thinking of getting a BB Tour but I'm absolutely new to the BB world, so I'd like to ask some questions before I go purchase. Any input is appreciated : ).

1. Is BB likely to be crippled by carriers? I'm with Bell Mobility(Canada)and I have had experiences using a handicapped smartphone from them.

2. Can I freely install supported 3rd party applications on BB Tour? Where can I find them(I googled a little bit but no luck)?

3. Is GPS restricted? What's the best 3rd party navigation application(I read that Garmin and the on-phone navigation are not free).

4. Is GPS working with Google Map on BB Tour?

5. Are Youtube and similar video sites supported?

6. Approximately how much data would I use monthly? Given that I use Google Map, email(mostly without attachment) and basic internet surfing. Bell gives 500MB free in the data plan.

Thanks in advance and sorry about the noob questions.

I will answer the questions that I can....

1. I cannot speak on what Bell Mobility does, so I will not answer this question.

2. Apps can be found on Blackberry App world, There is a link to the download on the tour.

3. GPS is not restricted for Verizon, I am not sure how your carrier will handle it. I use Google Maps for free navigation.

4. See question 3.

5. I use youtube all the time to watch videos from my phone. Not sure what other sites you would use for viewing videos.

6. Unsure of how much data you will use, if you are using youtube a lot you will probably go over the 500MB free limit.
