Default Using VZAccess Manager with a Storm on a Laptop via Bluetooth

Please Login to Remove!

Maybe what I'm looking to do is not possible, but here goes...

I have a Blackberry Storm and I use it tethered to my laptop with the USB Cable to use VZ Access Manager and it works great.

I figured it would be even better if I could connect the phone to the laptop via Bluetooth. I enabled my Bluetooth Connection and when I pair my phone to the computer, it wants to create a dialup connection (User ID, Password, Phone Number to dial, etc. is required)...I don't have any of that because I work through the VZ Access Manager.

I don't seem to have any way to just pair my phone with my laptop. If I could do this, then I can use the Bluetooth Option in VZ Access Manager to make the internet connection.

Everything I read, from my Windows help screens, to RIM's site says that I pair it using the "Bluetooth Devices" icon on my Windows XP Control Panel, but I don't have this option.

Are there any Bluetooth experts out there that could give some good advice?

Thanks in advance!!!

When you find out let me know... I'm in the same boat you are with an 8820 and ATT communication manager. What you/we need is a Bluetooth Personal Area Network (PAN) connection. I assume that you have your BB paired with your laptop correct?

When I go to my connections (XP Pro, Start Menu, Connect To, Bluetooth Network Connection) and search for a bluetooth device my BB 8820 does not come up because it is either not PAN able or not PAN configured.

Can someone explain how to set up a Personal Area Network over Bluetooth to run VZAccess or ATT Connect? Dial Up connection does not seem to work for me either.

(op - did not mean to jack your thread, hopefully this helps not takes away from your issue)

I had the same problem with VZaccess Manager until I removed the software that came with my bluetooth dongle and just let Windows XP install the generic bluetooth drivers. VZ access manager will not recognize the bluetooth device manager if it is not in the Windows Control Panel. After I did that, re-ran the VZ Access connection Wizard and it found the Bluetooth connection to my 8330 right away

Same deal here. Did not use the software that came with my dongle and just let Windows Vista autodetect and choose which drivers to use. Don't use the bluetooth too much because it sucks power like crazy.
