Smile BlackBerry Manager - Unable to obtain DB version information

Please Login to Remove!

Hey Everyone,

I have a strange problem with a remote user who is using Blackberry Manager. Whenever they try and open BB Manager they are presented with an error which states, "Unable to obtain DB version information". Immediately after another message states that database login failed. I checked the log file and noticed the following entries:

[20000] (12/22 15:33:55.173):{0x17F0} [ODBCRecord::DoGetFirstValue] SQL error: [0x80004005 Protocol error in TDS stream] Source: [Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server] SQL State: [HY000] NativeError: [0]

[20000] (12/22 15:34:01.517):{0x17F0} [ODBCRecord::DoGetFirstValue] DATA = "".

I tried looking in these forums and RIM support for a solution, but haven't been able to find anything. We are currently running BES 4.1.4.13 for Lotus Domino and SQL Server 2005. Also, I have multiple other remote users that are running BB Manager with no problems so it appears to be localized to this one location. As this is my first post if I have missed anything please let me know. I truly look forward to your replies and wish you all a very happy holidays!!

Welcome to the Forums,

I guess I will start off with some basic stuff.

1. Make sure that the user is added in the manager or within SQL manager so they have access to the database.
2. Make sure that they have the same version of BB Manager installed on the workstations.
3. I would also try to run the following query on the BESMgmt database to make sure it works: "SELECT CurrentVersion FROM ServerDBVersion ORDER BY CreateDateTime DESC"

Hope this helps.
