Default BES Activation messages generating NDRs

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

I'm trying to activate a user on to our BES and after the enters the information at the Enterprise Activation screen it just hangs there and eventually says "can not contact server....."

I started thinking that the emails might be getting stuck in the spam, they weren't but instead were getting NDRs generated. This is a copy of the NDR:

MY USER on 12/20/2008 8:20 PM
There was a SMTP communication problem with the recipient's email server. Please contact your system administrator.
<MY SERVER #5.5.0 smtp;553 #5.1.8 Domain of sender address <network@etp1101.etp.na.blackberry.net> does not exist>

Does anyone know why this is happening? I've never had the RIM activation messages blocked by spam or NDR'd. Not sure how to go about fixing this.....

Any help is much appreaciated.

Thanks!

hmmm not sure about this...

Does your sever do any kind of checking to see if the ETP servers are RIM are real mail servers?

I just white list anything from *.blackberry.net and that works for me.

It looks like they have a reverse lookup record which the mail server is testing for, perhaps your DNS server is messed up?

C:\Documents and Settings\>ping -a 204.187.87.40

Pinging etp1101.etp.na.blackberry.net [204.187.87.40] with 32 bytes of data:
