Default Name that Symbol!

Please Login to Remove!

I found a symbol on my Storm this morning that I can't figure out or clear.

It is an arrow pointing down and to the left, enclosed in a circle.

My first thought was that it was telling me about a download, but I can't find what it's talking about unless it wants me to install some IM program I have no interest in.

I have no messages of any kind waiting, no missed calls, etc. I have done 2 battery pulls, and still it remains.

It is an App World notification. App World needs upgraded or an app you downloaded has an upgrade.

I believe that is a Blackberry App World notification.

That's what I thought, too. There's also a tiny red asterisk in the upper right hand corner of the arrow/circle symbol. That usually indicates something pending.

In the BB App. Manager, nothing in "My World" shows as having an upgrade available, and I'm pretty sure I have the most up-to-date version of App. World (1.1.0.15). What's the best way to figure out which app it's wanting to upgrade?

Check your "messages" folder. You'll have to scroll and look for it, as it's not searchable as an unread message. :(

It took me a few days to figure it out as well (tried battery pulls to no avail) - I had manually upgraded some apps in App World, but the notification remains unread, and so you get the icon in the notification bar (I don't use the messages folder).

Got that sucker. It was the update for Score Mobile. Thanks so much, Kormac!

Default Thank You!!!

Thank you, thank you, thannnk you! That thing was driving me nuts. I searched online for an hour trying to find information about the blackberry icons. After deleting the notification about the upgrade, it disappeared.

Is there a list anywhere that shows all of the icons and what they mean?

Thx,
Keith D Sellars

To second what JSanders posted, there really is no good place to find information like this. I love my BB, but the lack of documentation is somewhat surprising. The good thing is that you've come to the best place to find information like this out.

There will never be a comprehensive list as the system generated ones (new mail, sms, missed call, etc.) can be adjusted by the current theme.

Also, third party applications can register their own icons in the notification area as well.
