Hello,

I bought my Storm 9500 on Ebay three months ago. It arrived unlocked. I'm using it on o2 (in the UK) and am on pay as you go. I can't send or receive picture messages. Is anyone on o2 and has had similar problems? Would really appreciate any advice. Many thanks.

Wirelessly posted (overwhelmingly stressed)

Generally speaking you need a BB data plan in order to use mms

Hey,

i found this at o2. but I'm not sure if it has anything to do with why you cant send or recieve mms.

Like ezrunner said, usually it requires a bb data plan in order to use mms.

Sorry if that page doesnt help.

Hi. I don't even get a txt with a code saying to check online as the picture couldn't be delivered to my phone... it just doesn't deliver. Friends will send me pictures and i just don't get them.. full stop. A friend even tried sending one while we were together, shows on his phone it's sent but i don't receive the mms or any info. Has anyone got the 9500 working with o2 for picture messaging? Thanks for your post tho. Kind rgds, James

MMS is service book related (more often than not)
You wont have the service books, as you dont have the bb data plan.
It works like this on any BB.

CAll O2, ask for technical support and explain the problem.
They may be able to do something about it.

I don't know how is in your country, but I don't think you need a BlackBerry data plan to send and receive MMS. I think you just have to activate the MMS option. For example I dial *100# on my carrier and access the SelfCare service. Here I can manage my account, and activate or deactivate MMS, roaming, voice mail, and many other stuff. But that's Orange, not O2.

Default Thanks again.... i called o2 for info...

pirlok & midnightdraven; thanks for your comments, really appreciated.

I called o2 this afternoon and asked them. They said the phone - as is the case with all bb's - is not supported on payg. Thus mms, call waiting etc won't work on payg...at all!

I can however get a simplicity contract at £15 which includes a standard 'bolt on' for free anytime o2 to o2 calls. Once you've signed up, you can then call them and they'll change the standard o2 to o2 calls for what they call their 'BlackBerry bolt on' which allows you to receive and send mms messages and includes anytime unlimited internet.

This sound like quite a good deal to me and i'm quite impressed they allow you to change the standard bolt on to the bb one. The £15pm tarrif is cancell-able at anytime with 1m notice and includes 300 anytime mins and 600 txts... picture messages etc included and count for 4 normal txt's out of your allowance for each sent. I'm gonna sign up tomorrow.... wooo hooo i'll be able to use my phone fully soon.

Hope this info can help others. Wish there was a free workaround tho... would love to hear of one still if anyone has info. Kind rgds, James

yup the O2 sim only plans are great! same with t-mobile's.
Only Orange offer bb data plans on payg at the moment in the UK.
