Default battery died died overnight, while turned off

Please Login to Remove!

woke up to a dead blackberry bold this a.m. Couldn't get a reaction out of it at all (pressing buttons, on, trackball, etc.) so I plugged it in, let it sit on the charger for a while--nothing, no lights or anything. Removed and replaced the battery, back on charger, nothing.

After sitting on the charger a while, I pressed a bunch of buttons until finally (after holding down the trackball button for a while) the screen lit w/ a battery charging image and a red led light. Couldn't tell if it was actually charging. Couldn't get it to do anything else.

I removed battery, replaced battery, put it back on the charger; finally it rebooted and the regular (clock) charging screen came up. Now I can finally get to a home screen and it seems to be working alright.

This was unexpected as I shut it off last night w/ some battery life remaining not set to auto-wake until about the time I picked it up this morning (and have only had it about a week).

Believe it or not it's only sleeping not turned off. Alarms and calendar events will still fire. So it does drain battery a little. My guess is that it drained it to the point that it took a good while to get a good charge back into it before it would boot.

I've had that happen to me with my Curve where it was fully charge and when i woke up it was dead.

I charge my Bold every night and during the day at work sometimes. I am thinking about a spare battery just in case.
