Default What app has the balls? Syncing 10K contacts - gmail + BB

Please Login to Remove!

Hey there,

I have a client who would like to sync their contacts between Gmail and their 9630 Verizon BB.

They tried using Google Sync but it crapped out - I think Google Sync can only handle up to 3K contacts.

Has anyone had success with any app to sync this large number of contacts with Gmail?

Thanks!!

10,000 contacts? I can't even fathom that many. Much less heard of anyone who has that many. Most I have ever heard of on one BB was 6,250 or so,

Did you try to use Google sync with Outlook and then to the BB? Not even sure if that would work.

Thanks guys....

Yes, I agree, 10K contacts is crazy. But he is a mover and shaker *sigh*

He has the contacts already on his BB from an Outlook sync and they are already in his Gmail (also from an Outlook sync using CompanionLink).

But he wants the ability to sync new contacts both ways (and avoid duplicates which I'm pretty sure if a sync is initiated, may create dups - my guess would be Gmail is not smart enough to realize dup contacts coming from BB are already in Gmail).

The goal of the client is to avoid having to use Outlook entirely. He wants to use Gmail only.

I don't use google contact sync, but I do use the calendar sync and once in a while I do get a dupe or two. Early on, the contact sync was buggy and there were several complaints of dupes.

Might try contacting Google and see if they can really handle that many and see if they can offer a good way to do it.

As for being a mover and shaker, my guess is your client probably sees himself that way, but I seriously doubt he really is.

Contact Google? You mean there are humans there that answer the phone? I thought it was a giant entity similar to HAL in 2001.

Well, maybe he is or maybe he's not, but considering he is funded and starting his own company and has already done quite well for himself (I am gazing out at San Francisco from a very large apartment on the 37th FL of a swanky glass tower) I think at the very least, he is probably a shaker.

I am talking with some pre sales support at Goosync and Astrasync to see if there may be a way to load the contacts on the BB and in Gmail tethered but then sync only new contacts over the air.
