Default Pearl as modem for New AT&T SIM card

Please Login to Remove!

Ok, so my pearl that I bought from Cingular and had a Cingular SIM card was working as a tethered modem on my new Vista laptop. I moved to Tennessee and wanted a local number so I called and was sent a new AT&T SIM card. Well no more modem.

I have tried every possible combo and can't get a connection. I have searched the forum over and tried everything that everyone suggested. No luck.

I am curious if anyone with a 8100 with a new AT&T SIM card has had luck getting tethering to work with VISTA or XP?

Thanks

I have been using my Pearl as a modem for the last 8 months using AT&T communication manager. Worked perfectly until yesterday. Kept getting a 721 error message. After 1.5 hours on the phone with 3 different people at AT&T, I discovered that they did something to where I could no longer tether without purchasing an additonal plan. I had connected yesterday for about 3 minutes. They must have some type of sniffer because I could never get back on. Ending up having to pay an additional $30 a month to be able to tether. Once they turned that on I was able to connect just like I always had. Bottom line, I went from a 29.99 plan to 69.99. THANKS AT&T!!!

I figured that would happen.

By the way, Scarlett, your paying 40.00 more, right? 69.99 - 29.99 I am not trying to be a smarta$$. I made the same mental mistake and almost had myself convinced that it was worth 30.00 more. Then I realized it was 40.00 more and talked myself out of it.

Not really 40 because I'm getting a couple of things included that I was paying separately so it really does come out to 30 more. Unfortunately it happened at the worst possible time and would have paid whatever at that moment. I was out camping and kept getting urgent emails that I needed to log in and VPN to my office. So when you balance an extra 30 a month with a job or stay the same without a job. The extra 30 looked pretty good!!
