well what i pretty much did was remove the plastic ring, then took out the trackball component. after that, i got a piece of tape, colored it blue with permanent marker, and put it over the light. then i simply put the components back and there it was. i could do a detailed tutorial with pics if u guyz want me to.
I did the same thing to my BB a few days ago,it was pretty easy if you have ever taken one apart. I will post pics of it. you can also go a step further and color the leds for the keyboard. now my 8310 has a red trackball and blue keys!

Here are pics of my mod to the 8310. All you have to do is follow the instructions for cleaning the trackball,and use a very small piece of clear tape over the trackballs LED(looks like a square on the right of the trackball section of the circuit board). I even took it a step further and looked for the LEDS for the Keyboard and colored those blue. This can be changed in less than 10 minutes,so next week the ball may be green. thanks to the original poster for the info.
