Default Lost My EDGE

Please Login to Remove!

I searched on the topic a bit, but couldn't find any information. I have a BB8700c, with AT&T. The BB made the transition to EST this morning, but was only showing "GSM" as its network. I did a hard reset (battery removal), and EDGE came back for a couple of hours. Spontaneously, at some point, it switched back to GSM only. Further attempts at hard reset have not restored EDGE. AT&T support seems to be closed until 8AM Monday (it's 5PM Sunday in Boston now). Does any forum reader have a suggestion, about how to get EDGE back?

TIA - JG

Could be an outage. You should be able to reach ATT Customer Service.

I have EDGE in NH.

You've done about all you can, pulling battery and rebooting.

Are you on the fringe of service area, or in an area routinely well-covered?

I suspect it is not you. But there's a number of forum members in Boston who I bet will tell what they are seeing.

I'm on the 17th floor of a building about 1.5 miles from downtown Boston and have never had anything less than 5 bars. Perhaps they're doing some sort of maintenance or have another system issue. I'd think someone else in Boston or my area might have posted if it were a system outage. I guess I'll have to wait until CS opens at 8AM.

Default Network/Tower Issues

FWIW, turns out it was a localized network or tower issue which interrupted all data transmission through one particular site. Seems to have been caused by the remnants of Hurricane Noel. Back to normal now.
