When .103 comes out .101 won't be the newest anymore.

Default Why do the Tmo upgrade?

T-Mobile and RIM worked together to create the software update to fix the most commonly known issues that occur on the blackberry 8100, most of which were listed above... That is why you want to use the one that will be released on the 14th of August on T-Mobile.com. Also the difficulty with downloading other software that is not directly through T-mobile makes tech support on it somewhat limited at times...

Remember some people are afraid to experiment with installing another carrier's software. They are afraid. They dont want to void there warranty or something. For me it's no problem but not everyone wants to risk their $300 phone. So for those who have tmo phones this is a godsend.

uploading a new os should not void the warranty, unless it says so in the contract

the connections are what make the difference. tmobile has certain settings to its own connections. so when you send a text or make a call, the OS that is made by tmobile is made for your service. i cant really explain what i was told, but it makes sense. if i use an OS from cingular or another service provider, connection setting may cause lag and cause other problems.

I humbly disagree.
The OS' are all written by RIM. The carriers test and release them. They don't write them.

i questioned that and they told me that RIM does create them all, but to certain specs for that carrier. which is why they don't all come out at one time.

Just saw posted on another board (by two different people) that T-Mobile has now delayed releasing the update until Aug. 18th.

Apparently there was a bug with tethering the 8100, and T-Mobile wanted RIM to fix that issue, before the release.

Cory, could it be that T-Mobile has fixed problems NOT in the version of OS that you are talking about? My biggest issue has been the ABC icon appearing in the upper right side of the screen, blocking info that I need. That issue is fixed, supposedly, in this version. Perhaps it was fixed in the earlier version as well, I don't really know.

But, if all T-MO had to do was copy an existing OS from another provider, I'd think that RIM could have hooked them up a while ago, and that T-Mo would have therefore released the other vendor's OS months ago. Seems there has to be SOME reason T-Mobile is releasing a fix now.

The ABC icon issue has been fixed in the .101 release that is already released.

There is no official word on a delay. And employees really need to stop pasting from internal resources ><

Welcome to the forums,
That is the old OS version for the Pearl from TMo. There is a new OS coming out soon. That's what this thread is about.

Doesn't look like it is out yet. I just checked the TMO site and they still have the 4.2.1.91 listed.

If they keep this up well have 4.2.2 and the A2DP thing out to fix Bluetooth stereo before they even get 103 released.

The 4.2.1.91 is going to be the latest from TMo for the 8700. The 4.2.1.103 will be the latest for the 8100 (when it finally comes out.)

Just got off the phone with TMO tech support. The Update will be live tonight at midnight or noon 8/14/07 PST. This is 100% postive, he stated they were working on getting it up on the servers as we speak..

But my BIG question is will it fix the bluetooth DUN issue? the current T-mo software will NOT connect for me using bluetooth. I am using TIM ( I think) and it works perfectly as DUN but HORRIBLE as a phone. Calls not connecting, no voice during a call (lots of clicks and rushing noises but no voices). Basically, if I use the rodgers or tmo official loads voice it great but BT DUN doesnt work, and if I use the TIM load the BT DUN works but Voice is horrible..

Here's to hoping the NEW T-Mo load fixes both issues!
