Default Future Blackberries - CDMA

Hopefully we will be able to bring this topic back to life.

Has anyone heard anything about when the new Bell Blackberries will be released.

I was hearing from you folks here that it should be Q1 '05.

It seems to be the latter part of 2005 that being said a new crop of CDMA BB's still won't happen until RIM and Qualacomm find a to develop a smaller chipset or RIM partners with another vendor for such CDMA devices.

Default Bear Stearn's analyst said diff.

There was a quote i read recently off of hofo in regards to the 7100 form factor (or "g")

Cingular would roll it out in January and before the middle of the year, we can expect if for Verizon as well.

Should be interesting to see if two things work with Verizon - (1) Data outside of email (2) menu's that don't lag that long

time will tell i guess!

regards,
dolo

From what I understand from my friend at Virgin Mobile Canada. Michael Newman (President Bell Mobility) has or was running aruond with a new Blackberry, and it looked like a 7100. We will have to see what that means. I just want a 7290 CDMA only because I am stuck in my contract.

Great .... another version of the same phone that does nothing for us CDMA users. I saw another thread that mentioned the 7100g being Cingular and Verizon (how). I have been waiting and waiting and waiting and...... for either the Treo 650 or 7100x to come to Canada in CDMA format. Neither manufacturer or network provider will say anything. My guess is it will be a year behind US release for either product.

Don't they want our business????

The CDMA carriers are always behind the GSM carriers with respect to BlackBerrys. Verizon Wireless was the last with v3.6 (forget 4.0), color, BWC and web browser - which they still don't have. I figure a CDMA version of the 7100 will be out mid 2005. About a year after the 7750.

correct - that version is for cingular.

however - verizon is supposed to be receiving the same handset obviously configured for CDMA by mid 05.

I just got off the phone with a Bell Mobility CS Rep, who seemed very wise about the Blackberry products. He stated that the word was floating around that Bell was going to release the 7100 at the end of Janurary. I want the 7290 or a 7790 variant, hopefully that will be on its way also.

I think I can wait that long. Just hope it's not a rumour!

got some good news for you mikejb, even though the 7100 is anticipated for Bell(unless the rim reps are lying), it won't be until Q3, which doesn't surprise me.. however, the new BB that Bell is getting is the <start drumroll></end drumroll> 7250, which was predicted by i forget who(before we had to revert to the old backup), and i for one am looking forward to it. charm is cool, but i don't mind the reg QWERTY keyboard..

to put some rumors to rest, let me say that there's a sku for the 7250 in Bell's inventory.. which means it's going to be released soon(almost all new handsets get the skus in the inventory before it is actually released by Bell) i am waiting for the little bird to tell me when the official release date for this will actually be.. end of january would be amazing, but you may not want to hold your breath until then.. but let's cross our fingers and wait..

oh, by the way, you don't want the 7790 variant, cuz it's already here, it's called the 7750, heh.

D'Oh!!!!

That is great news. So I guess the rep got his models confused. He was a very nice CS Rep and said to watch the Howard Forums since that is where all the new phone info is usually released.

If this all pans out in the next two months I will be very happy that I did not try and get two 7750's when Bell and Telus where giving them away.

Default Bell Mobility - New Berries

I too have been informed by a few Bell reps that the 7100 is expected by the end of Q1. According to one rep I spoke with last week there is a number in their system for the 7100 but not for a 7750 replacement as yet. Personally, I am awaiting a new traditional qwerty design berry. The 7520 was recently released for Nextel on iDen networks and may come to telus on the mike network, I've heard nothing official of a 7200 for Bell as yet. I hope this rumour is true.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxx

After a bit of research I located unofficial confirmation for the 7250.
Check it out here - http://phonearena.com/htmls/readarticles.php?id=447

i'm not sure how reliable the rim reps are, but it seems to make sense that the 7250 comes out as a 6750 replacement(which is odd, but to bell, i guess they see it as the model that replaces the dinosaur 6750), and not the 7100..

expect to see the 7250 hopefully in march..

some great news regarding the 7250 for all cdma users holding their breath, a new ARM 9 processor, based on the MSM6500 chipset, which i'm guessing will be the savior for the qualcomm ghosts that makes the cdma berries not so appealing.. 32mb of memory.. which will help with the 4.0 os.. and there will be a high capacity battery available for this model, which will increase battery life by 50%..

as pentarus mentioned in another forum, you can check out this link to see what the new chipset is all about: http://www.cdmatech.com/solutions/pr...t_solution.jsp

i think bell is taking its data venue more seriously this year.. which is exciting..

Default Will Bell take trade ins

Hello. You people seem very knowledgable with regards to Bell. I was wondering if Bell offers trade ins. When the new version you mention comes out will I be able to trade in my 6650. Thanks Jim
