Anyone know of a free blackberry mileage counter for keeping track of how many miles I drive for work?

Any of the several GPS tracker apps in the GPS section... look at the sticky note "All known GPS apps".

I'm actually looking for a program that I can input miles into and keep a running total. Unless one of those gps programs does that accurately.

I don't know that they do. Perhaps a mileage tracking app for expense purposes is what you need. Try a search on 'financial' and 'mileage' or just mileage over in the Aftermarket software section, I have seen one or two there.

I tried bbtracker but it does not seem very accurate if it tracked me moving 300 feet while sitting in my office chair. Are the others more accurate? Which would you suggest?

I think I remember Telenav having the total mileage mapped out for you.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I want a manual way of doing it.

Wait, a manual way of doing what? Looking at your odometer and deducting starting mileage from current mileage is a manual way of doing it, then enter that into your mileage expense tracking application.

I would love an app which tracks my distance travelled when walking, unfortunatly google maps which I use for my mapping and GPS at the moment doesn't track distance walked.

ok. I read earlier on in the thead that bb maps comes installed. But all I have is carphone warehouse mapping which is crap or google maps. How come I don't have it on my blackberry. Is it because I'm in the UK ?

In my experience, results are not that accurate when you are trying out a GPS based software within the confines of an office building. Try it when you are out in the open space. I have used bbTracker and it is pretty accurate.

There are other apps as well; I have used both AllSportGPS as well as GPSed for BB. AllSportGPS is best of all, but I'm not too sure if I want to pay a monthly fee after the initial 30-day trial period...

I would really like a program that will keep track of my total miles for each trip. So lets say for work I cover a city council meeting and its 15 miles. Well I could type in my odometer reading before i left and when i got there and it would record 15 miles as my total for that trip. Then when I go to a meeting in Columbus I would again put in my odometer readings when i left and then got there and it would my mileage with that of my previous readings.

Im doing this for tax purposes so I really cant rely on GPS which has not shown me to be 100% accurate.

It is very accurate within less than ten feet according to the satellite view, etc., that you have at the time.

If you can't rely on the GPS, then you can't do what you are proposing--to type in your odometer reading and have it keep your driven mileage. If 14.98 miles is not accurate enough, rather than 15.0.

If not GPS, how do you propose this to work?
