Default Best way to get MSN Messenger on my 8800 (Rogers)? Help please!

Please Login to Remove!

My company just gave me an 8800 (Rogers network, 25mb per month plan) and I'm a complete newbie!

What is the best/cheapest way to get MSN Messenger on this thing? I tried downloading the MSN application on the official Blackberry website but got:

"Sorry your device does not meet the system requirements required to support Windows Live Messenger"

which I suppose means the 8800 isn't supported for this app?

I've heard of IMChat, QuickIM, Jivechat, Veritalk, etc, but don't know which app is the best, which are for American networks only, etc...

Hoping there's a Canadian 8800 owner on the Rogers network out there who can help!

Thanks!

Welcome to the forums.

The RIM made Live messenger is not available on Rogers. Most people who use it swear by Jivetalk.

Default Thanks!

Thanks Perfect Storm. I just d/loaded the 30 day Jivetalk trial. Seems decent.

Some other newbie questions:

1) Does simply being logged in all the time (without being in any conversations) use up any data?

2) Do actual conversations themselves use up a lot of data?

I have a 25 mb per month plan....

Thanks!

Yes to both.
I would be careful with a limited data plan.

Are you using a company's Blackberry? If so, don't you have to go through their BES server security? Which is what the original poster may have to do if his company uses BES server.

Its too bad that Rogers customers can't get WLM (official RIM/MS version). I love it on my Bell Mobility BB.

How's that possible?
