Default Polling MSN email account

Please Login to Remove!

I recently purchased, then returned an Curve as BIS did not automatically push Yahoo and Gmail almost immediately, but not MSN.com (which is my primary email account) which would take as long as 8 hours to poll and send/receive email. I was coming from a Windows Mobile device, where I could send and receive on demand - which cannot be done with BlackBerrys.

Has anyone else had this issue with MSN email and know if BlackBerry has resolved it? I am considering a Bold or Storm, but cannot go with either if I cannot reliably get MSN email.

Thank you

I was a GMAIL user for years and enjoyed instant sync with my blackberry untill a few minths ago I switched to Hotmail.

This was on Orange UK network and hotmail sync is appaling, it would take nearly TWENTY minutes to nearly FIVE hours to deliver email to my blackberry..so I went back to GMAIL yesterday.

And now i'm enjoying instant delivery again.

What makes you think this is a RIM issue? Wouldn't a problem with BIS affect more than just MSN mail? I'd suggest checking with MSN. Google and Yahoo are the ones that have worked to get faster email delivery with BIS in place.

Possible Resolution/Solution: [Worked for me]
****************
Try deleting all prior email from that hotmail/msn account and then send some test message. And also send the service books again. Hopefully this will help you some of you out.
*****************
*Also note, if you re-add a MSN/Hotmail account that previously supported the option "Synchronize deleted items between this mailbox and my device." this option will no longer be available. And there is no going back. Personally I prefer the old option, but if you prefer real-time push delete the account and re-add. The new way also requires you to login in the BIS every 90 days and confirm you still want to push.

Default Microsoft has acknowledged a bug msn.com email push

I was able to reach an upper level support person who confirmed that the MSN email push was not working as RIM had told me.

They opened a case with Microsoft which has acknowledged that they have a bug and the push functionality does not work as expected regularly.

To this point, RIM has not received an expected ETA on a fix from Mircosoft. We have come up with a workaround - forwarding the mail from the MSN account to one which does push immediately. This allows you to get the email, but you cannot respond from your MSN account until the email is pushed there (unless you forward to an email account which lets you 'respond as' and use your msn.com address).

I hope this is helpful to others how have run into this issue.
