Default BES5.0 and Exchange 2010 - Device GAL Lookup

Please Login to Remove!

I have an issue reported by my user. They indicated that the GAL lookup at the BB Device is not returning displayname of the user. The displayname will only be shown if the name of the users that is return is highlighted.

They have another BES connecting to Exchange 2007 that is able to return the displayname of the user when performing a lookup on BB Device.

My BES is version 5.0.13 and Exchange 2010.

Anyone know any settings or workaround.

Thanks

Which device is he using?

How does he do the lookup?

When I go to Contacts, I click on "Remote Lookup". I type the last name of the person I want to find. It then shows me [Firstname Lastname]. When I click on that entry, I see the full contact details (Tel.no, Email, Blackberry PIN, Street address etc.). What is the user missing exactly and in which screen?

The user is not see the Displayname at the lookup. When the user click on the entry they are able to see the full details such as email address and displayname. This is currently affecting a number of users.

Any ideas?

Thank you.

I am still confused. So what does the user see upon lookup? Just empty square brackets []?

The lookup return matches of the user and only display their first name and last name. Only by highlighting each match does the displanyname and all other details appear. What the user want is for the lookup matches that is return to show the displayname instead of the first name and last name format.

Hope this explains.

What I would like to know is there any way to get the lookup matches to show the displayname.

Thanks

Ahh, now I understand. This is a known problem, see this RIM KB article, it also includes a workaround for this:

KB17741-Global Address List lookup results display First Name and Last Name instead of Display Name

Hi Freakinvibe,

Thanks. Saw this article as well. But my client and users are not buying it as they previously is able to do so in.

Is there any other work around other than that as indicated in the article. As the system has more than 3000 accounts.

Thanks so much.

Sorry, I am not aware of another workaround. Maybe someone else in this forum can help.
