I can host the file - and lots more. I have the bandwidth, and the space, but not the time... If someone wants a login to my FTP site and can package up themes for OTA, let me know, and I will set it up.

Select Home > Handheld > 8700 > Handheld Software 4.1.0.224. Download the firmware package for the 8700g and install it on to your pc. Copy the file net_rim_theme_bb_dimension_zen_320x240.cod from C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\8700-v4.1.0.266_P2.0.0.111\Java to a temporary directory and upload it to your BB using javaloader.exe.
Will installing that firmware on the PC affect the current BB settings at all?

Also, will one of you techno-rambo's out there please do this yourself, then tell us idiots how to do it in layman terms?

Awesome theme! Thanks for posting it acnst!

Here's what my screen looks like now. One thing I really like is that all the shorcuts work from the Home Screen and if you press 'f' for Profiles, you get the pop-up menu like in the attachment shot.

Here it is, you'll have to edit blackberry.alx to get it to load up... well worth it though

Normally, you would press Alt and the Thumbwheel to bring up the option to hide/move an icon. However, with this theme, those options do not work.

I think you get the icons you get and can't hide/move 'em.

That ruins it for me then. Oh well, (with a big sigh).

For those wanting to add it, you can do a number of things.

1 - Download the T-Mobile UK software mentioned above (with a login/pass) - 8700M_PBr4.1.0_rel224_PL2.0.0.111_A4.1.0.266.exe. Once you install it, do not open Desktop Manager just yet. Go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader and delete or rename the Vendor.xml file. Now go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\8700-v4.1.0.266_P2.0.0.111 and open BlackBerry.alx with Notepad. Find the following:

Code:
                <fileset Theme="Normal" Colour="True" series="8700" Java="1.0" _vendorID="123|201|170|114|171|134|169|202">
                        <files>
                                net_rim_theme_bb_dimension_zen_320x240.cod
                                net_rim_bb_backdrops_320x240.cod
                        </files>
                </fileset>
Change to:

Code:
                <fileset Theme="Normal" Colour="True" series="8700" Java="1.0">
                        <files>
                                net_rim_theme_bb_dimension_zen_320x240.cod
                                net_rim_bb_backdrops_320x240.cod
                        </files>
                </fileset>
Open Desktop Manager and it will now install the various carrier and RIM themes available in the package, along with the updated OS to your 8700. To keep your Cingular and various other carrier themes, search the BlackBerry.alx file for the following and remove the _vendorid="" associated with each (just above the cod listing):

net_rim_theme_102_320x240.cod - _vendorID="102"
net_rim_theme_120_320x240.cod - _vendorID="118|120|124|130|132|133|137|138|139|140 |143|148|152|153|161|166|167|168|176|188|192|193|1 94|195|196|197|198|199|200"
net_rim_theme_125_icon_320x240.cod - _vendorID="111|125"
net_rim_theme_125_list_320x240.cod - _vendorID="111|125"
net_rim_theme_119_320x240.cod - _vendorID="119"

2 - Now, if you don't want to go through that extreme, just download the file linked above. Go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files and then your 8700 installation directory and copy that file over to it. If you're using Internet Explorer to download the file, and you have WinZip installed, then you'll need to rename it from net_rim_theme_bb_dimension_zen_320x240.zip to net_rim_theme_bb_dimension_zen_320x240.cod.

Once copied, go back up one level to the 8700 installation directory, open BlackBerry.alx with Notepad, find the 'themes' section in there (just search for theme), and paste the following in there:

Code:
                <fileset Theme="Normal" Colour="True" series="8700" Java="1.0">
                        <files>
                                net_rim_theme_bb_dimension_zen_320x240.cod
                                net_rim_bb_backdrops_320x240.cod
                        </files>
                </fileset>
Close and save the ALX file and open Desktop Manager.

These methods are fairly easy, albeit a little complex at first sight (honestly, its not).

Alternatively, I've attached the BlackBerry.alx file. Just download the COD file mentioned above and place in the correct directory (mentioned above). Go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files then to your 8700 installation directory and rename the current BlackBerry.alx file. Download the ZIP file attached here and extract the BlackBerry.alx file to that location (install directory) and open Desktop Manager. It shouldn't remove anything from your current handheld, but I don't have one so I can't really test it.

Just to note, this theme was added with the T-Mobile UK release of the software, per the Release Notes.

Does the UK version have all the same themes as the Vodafone one does, so I wouldn't lose the Vodafone, O2 and Orange themes in the process?

There is a new option under settings though - "home screen" where you can reorder and hide the secondary icons. Surprisingly I really like this layout, having hated the classic list themes

It has the new theme (Zen), Vodafone (120), Orange (119), Cingular (102) and O2 (125) 8700 series themes, along with the OS default themes. Just be sure to use the BlackBerry.alx I attached or make the changes manually to 'enable' the themes.

                        </files>
                </fileset>
Close and save the ALX file and open Desktop Manager.
Now where is this "installation directory?" Once in the Loader Files area there is only one file, and in there is no such directory. What am I misunderstanding? Where exactly do I paste that cod file? I already added the code to the alx file, but when I went through the DM app loader, nothing needed to be done, so evidently I pasted the file in the wrong place...
