Do you mean the address book app?

If so, first, make sure it isn't accidently hidden or moved to a folder.

If it is really gone, then...

Download and install desktop manager (also known as desktop software) on a computer. Get it from blackberry.com. Or from the CD that may have come with the 9700.

Run desktop manager and click on the applications link. Follow the directions to install the address book app.

Move the icon to the top row of the applications screen.

FYI, try turning off dial from home in the phone options, and use keyboard shortcuts. For example, A for address book, D for notepad, L for calendar, U for calculator, N for messenger . . .

Then put on the home screen the other apps you use frequently but don't have shortcuts for.
