Default I've done some searching and NOTHING. Homescreen WON'T UNLOCK (Sometimes)

Please Login to Remove!

Hey guys, I've got a problem. I'm running the latest OS for Vodafone (78) and I only have 2 non OEM apps installed: sms2mail and TalkLock. I uninstalled talklock, to see if it'll fix the problem.

Anyways, the problem is that sometimes I try to unlock the screen, by pressing the top button (YES! I know where teh button is) and it WONT unlock. By pressing the screen the message doesn't even show up. I even tried to plug it into my PC to see if maybe by connecting to DM but still no luck. The only way to get it to work is to do a hard reset :( it suckkkkksss!!!

I searched on google and couldn't find any solutions :(. Any ideas?

I had this problem with 4.7.0.83 on the 9530.

I went back to 4.7.0.75 and haven't seen it since.

Reinstall ur carriers OFFICIAL OS just to be certain it isn't a hardware issue...

Ok I've gone through a day now with an pfficial OS from my carrier, which is .78and it still hangs. Its done it twice today alone. One time I just checked the phone, went for a walk and pulled out the phone. It was landscape mode and told me to unlock the screen. I rotated the phone to a normal upright position but it didn't rotate. I knew it was stuck. It still reacts to the magnet on the holster, the screen turns onand off. But always in this boot on its side. I have no idea what the problem could be. Vodafone OS issue? Software compatibility? Thanks.

I'd get rid of sms2mail first, reboot the BB and give it a couple of days.

Talktolock doesn't seem to be producing problems since it was designed for this device.

no no, it's vodafones. I didn't even have to delete the vendor file and it installed just great. I'm doing a complete wipe via general security. For some reason my computer gives me an error while trying to run JL_Commander so I'm just wiping it now from all data and 3rd party apps. I'm only going to restore autotext, custom dictionaries, calendar & contacts.

I have a Verizon phone and had this problem with the leaked .83. It was fine the first day or two, then suddenly one day the phone would never unlock. It would be stuck on the lock screen, usually in landscape mode (blue background) and the only way to unlock was a battery pull. It did it OVER AND OVER and was unusable the rest of the day.

Did you notice if it only happens when you have alerts on the screen (messages waiting)?

I went back to .75 due to it being unusable in that state and it's happened only once in the past two weeks. I did notice it only happened when I had a lot of alerts on the screen. I did a battery pull and it hasn't done it since.

I want to go back to .83 because I liked the speed, but I'm afraid this problem will come back. I was going to post about it after searching but you beat me to it!

See! I'm not nuts! Lol. Yes, most of the time it's in Landscape, and with some notification (although I can't promise that last one lol). What i've done so far today with .85 is completely reformat it, wipe it, and with all 3rd party apps gone. I'm testing it out. Let's see if it gets any better. I hope so :(. Did you have any 3rd party apps installed?

No 3rd party apps installed, not even VZ navigator. Only English language. I went bare-bones to speed this thing up. Usually only the 5 main apps running that you can't close. And I upgraded to .83 by wiping with JL_Cmdr before the install.

It was freezing every....single...time I took it out of my pocket. I was sooooooo angry.

I think I'll try again today and see what happens. I like .83 better. I'll let you know my results.

I have tested this issue on my phone with .83 and .85 and the issue is there. .75 is the only release that the issue does not exist. This will usually only happen when I lock the screen with BB Messenger still up on the phone. If I close the application (not close but minimize using the end button) it doesn't seem to do it. This is very annoying but the speed of .85 surpasses the annoyance most of the time (except when it happens very often).

This is a bug in the OS, hopefully it will get resolved with a final release.

So is this a BlackBerry Messenger bug?

I do NOT have BB Msngr installed and have never seen this issue.

I actually thought it always happened when I had a BBM message waiting. But I wasn't 100% sure. Now I'm thinking it may have been the case. Installing .85 now and I'll see what happens...

Do you use the magnetic case? I think that might be the problem :P.
