Default E-Mail Rendering in 6.0.0.461

Please Login to Remove!

I was just playing a friends 9650 and noticed that their HTML email looked like it was being rendered using the webkit engine and HTML emails were much improved.

Is e-mail supposed to be rendered using webkit, and if so, is their an option to turn it on? I sure don't see one.

I am not currently running OS6 so I can't be definitive, but my best guess is that he has an add-on or enabled all images to show. I use an app called "show me the images" which downloads all the images, pictures, etc in an HTML email and the emails look exactly like they do on my computer now.

I may just do a complete wipe tomorrow and see if it still happens prior to adding to my BES Express.

Well i did a complete wipe and re-installed 6.0.0.461 and the same thing before adding device to the BES. Going to try 6.0.0.448 and see if there is a difference.

Wiped twice using JL_Commander and tried .448 and .461 and the same issue is at hand. E-Mails are not rendered using webkit. This is pre-bes with no IT policy on the device.

Is there a service book that needs to be enabled by T-Mobile for this?

Bueller? Bueller?

I think this is more determined by the email that is sent. I have had emails look like that as well but the majority of the emails that come through are plain text pretty much.
if the site is sent in all hyperlinks and such it may be able to load as such if you distinguish that the links are safe. I could be absolutely wrong and out in left feild on this so please correct me if I am.

I honestly had no idea webkit was supposed to render emails until I saw a friends 9650 on VZW which was rendering emails in the pretty webkit. Any other 9700 users out there on TMO who can confirm?

Jared, I still dont think it is rendering the email in the webkit browser, if that was the case then. it would open the email in the browser.

Are you talking about actually going to a site like GMail and opening mail from the browser itself?

Nope opening up the message from within the Messages application. According to RIM 6.x is supposed to use webkit for e-mails.

Though I came across this link over at another bb forum which answers my question
