I've set wifi up with my home connection and it has a signal icon beside my eesid in the wifi menu but it does not appear to be connected. When using opera mini and pandora its only using network even though I set both programs to use wifi if available. Is there a way to connect to wifi? Or should it do it automatically? My wifi icon on the homescreen is there but its not lit up.

On you Manage Connections screen, do you have the name of your WiFi network and white or green dash, or a checkmark?

It says wifi on with a white dash on the right side. I setup the connection using the secure code system on my router if that makes a difference.

If not, then you are not connected.

Should it auto connect when Im in range? Also, I use Static IPS, where do i go to set that up?

It should autoconnect. I don't know the answer to the latter question.

Have you had success at this WiFi point connecting in the past, where you actually saw the name of the WiFi spot and know it was connected, with a bright white Wifi symbol on the homescreen?

Ive never tried to hook it up before. I found the manual network settings and it looks like its connecting now (with static ip) although it does not seem to be going very fast :/ I dont know if its running wifi or network right now. Also, on the manual network setup it asked for a domain suffix, anyone know what i need to use for that?

When you are connected via WiFi, you will note the bright white WiFi home screen icon, as well as in Manage Connections, you will see your WiFi location named, with a green check mark.

Do you have a BIS Data Plan on this device?

I do have the data plan and looks like its connected to wifi, I guess I was expecting it to be a little quicker on the wifi.

Well captain, yes, the white wifi signal is highlighted... and my eesid shows up in network connections... is that more specific? :D Any idea as to whether or not it matters what domain suffix I should be using in the manual network setup?

to set static ip

go to manage connections - wifi options - WIFI profile - *bb menu* - edit - untick automatically obtain ip address and dns

if you get the SSID at the top of the screen then you are connected to the router. the WiFi icon turns bright white only if there is internet available on that router. one way to know for sure that you are using WiFi is to open the BB web browser and look at the top of the screen. it will say which connection you are using (EDGE,3G,WiFi)

If you use a WEP key or some other security on your wireless network you will obviously have to enter that the first time and then save the config. If you do that it will connect all of the time without any other interaction required on your part.

That's not entirely true. The WiFi icon turns bright white only if it can connect to the BB servers (you must have a data plan). If the icon is grey and you see the SSID, you can still surf the Internet over WiFi. You just won't have access to BB data services over WiFi.

ok, but for troubleshooting purposes, if the WiFi icon is dimmed, its possible that there is no internet available at all
