Nothwithstanding the problems I had earlier, I decided to start again, re-installing DM 5.01 and wiping my Bold before I installed 5.0, it's now working quite well I might add. Just got it installed and can sync without errors. Defiinitely a snappier OS with a lot of changes here and there. So far, so good.

Just got it installed, works good havent looked fully yet, and only used it for 15 mins, but the browser works fine but its media.net not explorer? how do i change that? cuz media.net sucks!

other thing is that sometimes when i want to access menu, and i click on the menu/option button and it will bring up the application switch bar screen. its pretty annoying sometimes i have to hit the button several times to get the menu! anyone have that problem?

Anyone have some insight? Thanks

Not sure about the 2nd problem but the first one with getting your browser back is an easy fix once you know how to do it. you need to enable legacy SB mode on your device and upload the old service book if you still have it. If not, you can find them online for the different carriers. I have the one for AT&T if you need it PM me.

Instructions (< 1min)

When the phone restarts, go to Options > Advanced Options > Service Books. Then hold Alt + {A/S}{A/S}{B/N}{E/R}{B/N} (QWERTY phones: Alt + {S}{B}{E}{B}). A message reading Legacy SB Restore Enabled should appear on your screen.

Open the Blackberry Desktop Manager, then select Backup and Restore, then Advanced, open backup file (.ipd) containing SB to load into BlackBerry, click on ">>" button.

Done.

When you rcv an sms I'm pretty sure the curser goes to the new message so that you can read longer sms without having to scroll to the top of it and then scroll back down. I actually like it because a lot of my friends send really long sms to me.

I've been using it for a few days now.. 1 thing I'm experiencing is with my ringtones. I cannot hear any of the ringtones that are NOT on the media card. When I assign the device memory (stock) ringtones -- dead silence regardless of the profiles.

MyPearl - thanks for the info i willl have to try it out.

Just had my first reboot today but it wasnt a complete reboot. I was typing on BBM and it just froze and went black with red light on, few seconds later it popped back on exactly where i was left at. my message i was typing was still there. strange... Also the battery seems to drain faster, used it full charged from 9am to 7pm and it was on one yellow bar. normally it doesnt get that low until mid day next day.

Now the track ball i know its not related to the OS, but now it wont go left sometimes, also noticed difflicuty going up sometimes now. Thats the 2nd track ball since I got the phone... Gonna have to order a 3rd one. Looking into the 9700, I wonder what AT&T charges for upgrade.

But anyways back to point, the new .411 OS, I like it yes, but the battery drain is a issue, I will see how it turns out tomorrow and post back. Hopefully no reboot again.

FYI BBM maps icon has disappeared again reloading lbs_ribbon seemed to fix the issue. I wonder if it will go away again on the next reboot?

Anyone notice anything different with their speakerphone? I find my terribly low and almost not worth using even when it's cranked to the highest volume level.

I too have found the speakerphone to be a little lower than normal after the update, but I really don't know whether it is the actual OS, or the results of my brother plating with it...

On another note-

Anyone else getting this little annoyance-

When typing a new message (SMS or w/e) and you get a new one and that little window with a preview of the new message pops up, instead of showing the ALREADY SAVED contact's name, it shows their number instead...? Anyone?

Overall, Superb OS- really nailed the whole reboot thing for .314/.348...

Let's see when AT&T/RIM release an OFFICIAL OS...

Good day !

I get some weird happenings after upgrading to 411.

Well, after doing the browser fix, apparently BB Maps showed up again. However, that, and Google Maps doesn't seem to find a GPS Signal any more.

I also got the vvm icon back by using the cods from 238 i think it was. however, using javaloader, it rebooted each time i loaded a cod file (since there are four or so relevant ones for the region by reading the alx file, since dm wouldnt let me install the alx file saying you fail!!!

anyway, i can't move the vvm icon anywhere. when i go into it, it asks to be provisioned. doing so it stays there forever doing nothing, but i get a text message a moment later from 1121611611, i get a few at the same time, stating:

122 Error Invalid Number. Please resend using a valid 10 digit mobile number or valid short code. Activate:Dt=6

I am able to confirm I am able to send SMS messages and email.

Any ideas?

I still have the car stereo connection issue with this OS. This issue has been around for a while now with no known resolution.

Has anyone noticed if the signal strength meter is giving false readings? My att 9000 has been showing 3G at my house. Before 411 i would have a bar or 2 in EDGE. But now i have between 2 bars and full 3G. Or has att expanded 3G?

If you are using BBSAK to load COD files, us version 1.7. It allows you to load multiple COD files at once.

I had the same issue with VVM. I resent my service books and called my voicemail and that seemed to fix the problem. The text you get is because you are setup for VVM, but it's not set-up on your phone.

I tried using BBSAK but it crashed - couldn't find files?

I dunno so I used the javaloader command line interface.

I do get those weird vvm-like text messages when i get a vmail, from 1000000000; alpsgaacds03.attwireless.net:5400?f....

but when i try to activate it on the handset when i click the icon i get that invalid number text message.

is there something else i am forgetting to do?

and vvm seems to be current on my attws account

Clearly RIM is not aware of this issue...
