Default Turning off your Blackberry question

Please Login to Remove!

Hi....

When I turn off my blackberry..........I called my phone to check voicemail and after dialing, it didn't go directly to voicemail. It rang 4 times, then went to voicemail.

Why, when it is turned off, doesn't the call go directly to voicemail? Is there a way to do this? I won't see if I have a missed call, and the person may think I ignored their call.

Does anyone else have this issue?

Thank you for your time -
HG

Default BlackBerry NEVER really turns off

Happygirl:

I have the distinct feeling the BlackBerry NEVER turns off. The closest is a profile which shows no sign of life (i.e. no vibration and no tone)

But to answer you: Turn off = remove battery

I truly hope someone else will correct me if I'm wrong, because I want to be wrong about this. -Migs

Hi MigsatBB.....

Thank you for your message. I tried calling my phone this morning and it went right to voicemail. I think we probably have to wait awhile before it recognizes it is off. I don't know.

Thank you for your response

You are correct in some aspects. When the phone is turned off, the phone part of the BB is off, but other things may still be running. For example, even with the device turned off you can perform a sync (yes try it). If you set an alarm, the program is still running so it can turn on the device and the alarm at the designated time.

It's one of the things about modern day devices that they are always ON even though the phone may not be able to make and receive calls. So yes there is some truth in the movies when they tell a character to go completely dark by removing the battery from the phone.

give youmail a try. it's a really nice voicemail app. there's a setting that you can have youmail send you a text message whenever you miss a call. this would enable you to completely turn your blackberry off (however you choose to do that), and when you turn it back on, you'll be able to see if you missed any calls. i still get a text message about a missed call even when my blackberry is turned off.

YouMail ) Voicemail You Love

p.s. this is a free service, which is also nice!
