I have been trying to murder my battery and haven't yet. I've left 3G, BT, and Wi-Fi all on, on purpose and it's atill happy after all this time.

IMO: it is always worth the upgrade when a new release escapes into the wild from the hard working and talented folks in Waterloo. Otherwise, why would it not be killed in the lab, first?

If I load the Media app and look at pictures, the ones I took with the camera and downloaded onto the BB load the thumbnails, but pics that I loaded in using Desktop Manager show up as file icons.

Just tried that here. No issues at all and everything seems quite 'snappy' (sorry for the pun)..

Overall my favourite and best version yet!

Ps. Was 'check spelling' always part of the browser? I just noticed it.

Upon further testing it looks like it's pictures in device memory that's giving me issues. The ones I loaded on to the media card look ok in thumbnail view.

Loaded a few hours ago. Browser appears to be quicker, but that may only be because I have read all your posts saying the same and I might be seeing things.

Problems that have not been fixed... language selection screen shows every time games launch (thk2, sudoku, etc); alarm clock will not escalate in volume, stays low; still cannot select network speed (2G, 3G, both) on ATT device with ATT SIM

New problem.... on initial boot up after a reset or battery pull, device takes at least 5 minutes to acquire signal. bounces between 1 bar, 2 bars, 3 bars, 4 bars, SOS, searching, SOS, 4 bars, 1 bar, blah blah blah. EVENTUALLY it comes up with full signal and locks. Didn't have this problem till this OS version.

Default I'm not impressed with .190

I've been using .190 (upgrade from the pre-installed .167) for a day now. My impressions:
  • Cuts battery life. Down 20% within 3 hours without doing much on the phone. No heavy internet use, no sending emails, no wifi or bluetooth, just read a few emails.
  • Photo thumbnails are now gone. After a battery pull, the first few thumbnails will appear, exit out of that folder and return, nothing will show.
  • Did not fix 3G problem. I am still not able to hold a 3G signal for more than a few minutes no matter where I am. And thats only after a battery pull. Otherwise I'm constantly on EDGE.

Other than that the only thing I see is a memory boost. I don't see any of the other differences mentioned here i.e. browser speeds, battery life, ect. I may try .168 and see if that helps with the 3G. The rest I can live with....well not the battery life!
