BlackBerry Handheld Software 8330 Release 4.5.0.285

Package Version: 4.5.0.285
Applications Version: 4.5.0.170
Platform Version: 3.4.0.53

Released from Tata Indicom
AMEA (contains English + European Languages)
File name: 8330AMEA_PBr4.5.0_rel285_PL3.4.0.53_A4.5.0.170_Tat a_Teleservices_Ltd.exe
File size: 83MB
Download here: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...179246148E0326

Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 8330:

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

For the previous OS, see this link: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...ilanguage.html

How to determine if you have an ESN or MEID based device.
From the main menu, select Options, then select Status.
ESN devices - On the Status screen you will see ESN on the display
MEID devices xxx8211; On the Status screen you will see MEID on the display.
NOTE xxx8211; You cannot install ESN-based software on a MEID device, nor can you install MEID-based software on an ESN device. They are NOT interchangeable.

Not the latest OS for the 8330 ESN devices.

Do a search for 8330AMEA_PBr5.0.0_rel355_PL3.5.0.30_A5.0.0.230.exe

I've never experienced the "chirp" on any OS build. I've never loaded .170. I don't have it on 5.0.0.230 either.

Hmmm.....followed the link in the original post and I don't see the 8330 as an option. Just the 8520, 8900, and 9000 all 4.6 software. Was the 8330 software pulled?

Watching this thread anxiously, as I'd really like the calendar availability feature on 4.5x. However, I can't stand the chirp on the phone. If enough people can confirm this is eliminated, I will be thrilled. Normally I would try for myself, but I've done that on so many releases that I'm burned out

BlackBerry 8330, 8130, 8830 Maintenance Release 10/146 10 2009

Update time! On 10/14, BlackBerry will release a Maintenance Release (MR) for the BlackBerry 8330, 8130, and 8830 handsets. It will post to Sprint.com/downloads on 10/21/09.

The new software version is 4.5.0.175 bundle 295.
The BlackBerry 8330, 8130, and 8830 MR fixes the following issues.
Display:
If the customer received a new email or SMS text message, the Home screen might not have displayed an indication of a new message received.
Wireless Network:
In some cases, the signal strength indicator (RSSI) might have fluctuated randomly and the customerxxx8217;s device might have appeared to have a strong connection to the wireless network, followed by a weaker connection.
Messaging:
Previously, if the customerxxx8217;s SMS delivery option was set to immediate, their device might not have sent the SMS message immediately as expected
If the customerxxx8217;s were sent multiple MMS messages, they might not have received all of the MMS messages.
Phone and Voice Dialing:
If the customer received a phone call there might have been a delay in audio routing between the time they answered the call to when the recipient heard their voice.

Hold tight for the update next week, and post your experiences / thoughts when it arrivesxxx8230;

Since I don't have enough posts to make links: Find the currently non-sticky "Latest OS: 8330m 4.5.0.295/4.5.0.175 (Multilanguage)" thread and follow the download link in it. Make sure you select the "BlackBerry® Curve (TM) 8330 smartphone" (no m) option to download.

Default "about" not working

I did the 285 package install per the instructions on my 8330. All went well. All seems to work fine BUT
I selected options, then about to see if it all took and nothing happens. All the other items in options open and seem to work fine. About does nothing.

I have re booted, done a battery pull, and tried to search but about is a very common term!

Thanks for any help.

Trying to download .285 from the link, but 8330 is not on the list. Only 8520/8900/9000. Was it taken down?

.175 has long since been released. my desktop software pulled it down last weekend. but haven't installed it. i haven't really seen any changes each time a new version comes down. not that i've really looked through all the corners. but nothing to really get me to upgrading anymore. now 5.0 on the other hand. total software change. but slow. specially in rebooting. and lack of software compatibility.

i've never had a problem with chirping. i'm wondering if the rest of you don't have a problem with your phone instead of the software.

now, if they would add threaded sms. then i be on it like flies on crap. untill then, i'm anxiously waiting 5.0 software compaitiblity and i be back to 5 faster then i can snap my fingers. hopefully by that time 5 has a much faster reboot then the 3 1/2 minutes i had before. i get 90 seconds with .169
