HELP... 122 install went bad

Default HELP... 122 install went bad

Please Login to Remove!
I downloaded .122 from Bell Mobility
Deleted the vendor.xml file
Ran the Loader.exe program

All of my applications are gone and now the Desktop Manager will not connect to the device.

I have a back up file from .133 but I can't get the device to connect to run the restore.

Any ideas?

It may take a few attempts for it to connect, just be patient.

Also, could you please update your profile to reflect your current device.

I restarted my PC and DM connected. I was able to restore my device data, but I've lost all of my applications.

Doesn't the back up and restore also back up applications or am I faced with reinstalling everything.

No, the Backup will not backup 3rd party applications. Only device data/settings.

If you still cant connect to desktop manager, try booting in safe mode. Do a battery pull, and once you put the battery in, hold down the BACK button (the arrow button next to the end call button) until you enter safemode. Try that.

I have never heard of this! Will try it but what does this 'safe mode' show/allow/do?

Devices running 4.6 and up (I believe) have the safe mode feature. This disabled 3rd party applications from running. It helps determine if a 3rd party application is causing issues with errors or memory leaks.

jsconyers... thank for the tip... the third party back up works great... now all of my apps show up in the DM add apps. Also, I just learned that the new Blackberry App World "My world" feature remembers what you have and allows you to re-install (anything that you download through the app world anyway).

I'm loving the Storm even more now and I'm sorry for all the nasty things I called it yesterday morning
