1. telenav appears to be a newly loaded application with 4.2 bberry software. I notice that every blackberry I set up now has it *before* the OTA policy is pushed out.
2. just because you have the telenav does not mean your blackberry's GPS is enabled. This is a pay service, not unlike call waiting, i'm not sure of the cost, but i'd assume it's around 10$ a month. To check if it is enabled, go to:
options, location based services, push on the wheel and refresh gps. It should scan for satellites, and within about 2 minutes or less you should either get your coordinates (yes it's enabled, still doesnt mean you're being tracked though) or you will get a message "GPS fix unavailble" or something like that. This could mean that the service is enabled, but not active at this time, you don't have a signal etc, but most likely that it is not enabled.
3. if you have a problem with it, ask your IT department and find out if it is enabled, if it is request a different phone that is not, or do whatever you've got to do to feel comfortable.
4. the "by permission" function only asks you if applications on the blackberry are trying to access the GPS feature. This will not stop your boss, or your boss's boss from tracking where you are, if it is indeed enabled.
