Well whats not taken into these numbers is Sunday, these numbers do not count Sunday - they only count Friday night and Saturday. JG, the 500k was never Apple's projection, maybe one of the analysts.

"Notable Calls submits: RBC Capital notes their checks suggest Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) may plan to produce 8M iPhones CY07, implying 12-14M unit sales end CY08, well ahead of Apple's publicly stated 18-month 10M goal."

"The company aims to sell at least 730,000 iPhones by September, pushing total orders to more than 1 million units. It took seven quarters for iPod sales to top the 1 million mark, Cook said. Similarly, the plan to turn the iPhone into Apple's third major business won't happen overnight, he said."

Lots of stories out there.

King-B, maybe because there's a certain person who cant spell who eggs everyone on or else i think that thread would have died along time ago.

When I step back and take a look at the big picture in the wireless telecom business, it could be summarized as follows.

Here is in my humble opinion, a good comparison.

1) We all need our cars it's just a fact of life. We get screwed on the price of gasoline by ______________insert your favorite gasoline company.

2) We all need our phones which is also a fact of life. We get screwed on the price of airtime/text/data plans by _______________insert your favorite cell service carrier.

So after it's all said and done, it is what it is........

either way everyone gets screwed by everybody else. at least get screwed with some dignity, you know ? so don't buy iphone, because if you do you're getting double and triple screwed.....and apple comes to take your dignity, at which point you are very very screwed.

test54, Thank you so much as you are so correct! It was a momentary lapse in my concentration which caused me to fail to include this factor of Customer Service in my Post. From my perspective the customer service aspect, is the number one reason I decided to make that particular post.

I did so, not in anger, or in disgust, simply as a matter of personal experience, and fact as I have been reminded of when recently attempting to reach a resolution with my provider, who made a mistake and now refusing to take responsibility. A large gross error so clearly their fault.

In my eyes the various (and I've tried them all) carriers are rapidly approaching the dubious / highly self centered / borderline illegal activities of extortion, similar to that of the insurance companies. I do not say this to suggest there is a problem. For when one is faced with a problem, that suggests that there generally a solution.

However in a case like the insurance or wireless telecom businesses, there is no solution, therefore it simply becomes one of those ugly facts of life. One which is steadfast and not worth wasting ones time on by allowing it cause anger or other useless emotions.

I have now shifted into neutral and will no longer comment on the carrier which I would from time to time give recognition to for the good service that I had received.

To those of you that already dislike AT&T (my carrier) do not waste your time by responding to my post, with I told you so's.

It's a complete waste of your time as you have no power to anger or otherwise upset me with your comments.

I left Verizon for similar reasons...I am now very close to going back.

Better equipment on other carriers is really not worth much when the service (voice and data) is not even close to Verizon's...Also, with the exception of GPS, Verizon's lag on new devices is much less than it was a year ago, 2 years ago etc...

By the way, whats all the fuss with this "Apple vs. Verizon" stuff? Apple is in the business of making money. Why would they want to partner with any CDMA carrier? Forget Verizon. They cant make money with just them. So who cares.

Let the folks at LG partner with Verizon.

Could be one of the most naive and uneducated comments I have seen on here in months..

IPhone numbers fall short of hype
Its still sold more then any other phone released in that short a time span. Not bad. I'm sure other companies would love to come up that short.

No it wasnt.

For a company thats new at making phones; its only right that they stick with GSM to make more money and get more iPhones in the hands of people.
Sorry if it sounded like I just targeted Verizon. I should have just said all of CDMA. Its not that I dont like CDMA. I would love to see the iphone running on EDVO one day, but launching a new phone on a "niche" cell network is silly. GSM was a must.
