Default Vibrate strength

The only major complaint I have about the 8900 is the vibrate strength. The Bold was a huge drop from the 8310 and I think that the 8900 vibrate strength is even weaker than the Bold! I put my phone in the leather pouch and put it in the palm of my hand and called it and I barely even felt it. When it is in my pocket or on my belt I can't feel it at all and miss calls all the time. I spoke with Rogers technical support who advised me that this is the way the OS's are built now and even a patch cannot change this. Furthermore, they stated that they would take the phone back in light of this complaint. Has anyone else had any experience with this? Is it actually possible to come out with a quickfix for this or would it be best just to return it?

No quickfix currently available AFAIK. If you really need vibrate, return it for now and buy it again if there's ever a fix. I definitely agree, as many others have as well, the vibrate feature is almost useless. Luckily if I ever have to put the phone on vibrate, I can't answer the phone anyway so it doesn't affect me so much.

I personally would see this as a hardware issue and not an OS issue, so I don't think there would be any fix. It's just a very small motor that spins and off balanced weight. Don't think a patch could fix that.

Thanks for the replies. I will return the phone. The only disheartening thing is that they said every bb built from now on will be like this. I wonder why when everything leading up to and including the Curve was great...

Once phones would vibe&ring. Then BB did away with that and went vibeTHENring. Now they won't vibe much it sounds like (no pun intended). Does anyone think it's a battery saving manuever?

I don't have an 8900 so I don't know how lightly it vibrates. But I like that BBs don't vibrate as loudly especially when I am in a meeting.

There is a program called vib&ring that allows Blackberries to do both at the same time. Just had another forum member elsewhere refer me to the program yesterday, and it is great!
