Unhappy Help please. Can't send html format emails on my 8900

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I am based in Cape Town, South Africa. I own a BB 8900 curve.

I noticed that all of my friends with BBs - their emails appear in html format on my Microsoft outlook mailbox. I use a gmail account for my BB.

When i send an email to my MS Outlook address - it appears in plain text (courier !!) But emails from my friends with 8520s and 8310s ALL appear in html format.

The reason this is such a big problem is that it looks very unprofessional and cheap when i send an email from my BB to one of my clients.

Please help - you can mail me on if you'd like. Thank you.

Welcome to the forums.

What MidnightDraven stated is correct. They compose in plain text. There's no way around it.

Default HTML format emails & 8900s

Thank you guys. But I may not have explained by problem correctly.

Firstly, my friends are in fact sending emails from their BBs to my MS Outlook address and when i open those emails using MS Outlook, they are not in plain text but in HTML. Its happening. I know its happening because I receive those emails everyday.

Look at the attached pictures. The first is one showing an email my friend sent to me from his BB 8310. The second picture is an email I sent from my BB8900 to my MS Outlook address. Notice the difference. I hope the insert image function works!

please help - it is possible. I hope the images comes out so that you can see what i mean.

The images are not showing.

Also, the BB doesn't compose in HTML. They must be sending them via another email client.

Hi, yes i saw the images was not working.

if you go to "messages" and then press the "BB button" and then go to "email settings" you'll see that you are able to set the phone to send HTML and read HTML email messages.

Anyway - i wish i could show you what i am talking about.

If you could forget about whether or not there HTML formatting on the 8900 - and just concentrate on my problem, which is.

When i send an email to a normal recepient using MS Outlook, the text appears in "courier" (see Windows fonts pls) - namely, in plain text.

When other BB users send emails to MS Outlook addresses, those appear in Times New Roman font (HTML format).

that is the problem. Try it out for yourselve! Send a mail from your Blackberry - send the mail to an email address where MS Outlook is being used. Once you open the mail, go to the "format" tab ontop and see which format the mail is in. It can either be "plain text" or "HTML"

please help...

The only HTML related setting in there is: "Enable HTML email [y/n].

Could this be some new feature of BIS 3.0, already implemented in AMEA (Africa, Middle East, Europe)?

Hi, I don't know - but i promise you guys - here in Cape Town everyone with a Blackberry is sending nice looking emails with Times New Roman Font -

I called up my cousin - he too has a BB 8900 - asked him to send me an email to my MS Outlook address - when it came through - PLAIN TEXT!!!!

I then tried something....

i sent an email from my MS Outlook address to my BB email account (a gmail account). It went through to my BB. I picked up my BB - opened that email and THEN, i pressed the BB button and went> "forwards as" then, "email" and sent that email back to my MS Outlook address - it came on my MS Outlook and it looked correct! It was in Times New Roman Font!!! To top that - i went to "formant" in the Windows tab above and it showed that it was in "html" format.

I then tried to send another fresh new "test" mail from my BB to my MS Outlook - back to plain text!!

Im browing teh internet - i see that i am not the only one in the world with this problem - BUT why doesn't anybody know the answer??!!!!!

Please help if you can?

Would you type here exactly what those options and choices are in the Email Settings screen?

Or better yet, take a screen shot of your menu.
