Why? It's not aftermarket software. Facebook is a RIM application.

Downloaded and love how it looks so far. Like the different views for news, status updated, pictures, and links. Much more like it is on a PC.

BE CAREFUL!! Installed this on my Tour, and am now stuck in an endless-reboot cycle and haven't a clue how to stop it. I have pulled the battery, no luck. Tried the 'safe mode' trick, but it doesn't seem to work on the Tour. I'd be happy to wipe the stupid thing and reload, but not sure how to get it booted far enough to even do that. The only thing changed here was installation of FB 1.7 and the required reboot. I'm dead in the water here - and extremely frustrated.

Sorry for your troubles. It installed 1st try just find on my Tour (you may also want to update your Profile here since it shows you still have an 8330).
What OS version do you have installed? I'm using 4.5.1.57.

Does not appear to. I had the option to NOT integrate FB with my Address Book with v1.6 and it did not get reset with I installed v1.7. When I went from v1.5 to v1.6, it rset all my options, which screwed with my Address Book.
I don't see a FB CICAL service book anywhere.

Thanks, the whole reason I've stayed away from FB is because of all the problems it caused. I may give it a go...

OK, profile updated (wife has the 8330 now). OS is 4.71.57. This is SO frustrating.

It may take quiet a while to re start when you install some apps.

I just did the exact same thing. This might help.
blackberry-101-lecture-12-how-reload-operating-system-nuked-blackberry (wont let me link... add in crackberry dot com/ before that)
I didn't try it myself because I'm going to try to go to the store in the morning, and see if they'll give me a new phone... all my data is gone either way... (hate you fb)

Failed here on a 8900 on 4.6.1.231 on T-Mobile UK. There was a warning about a requirements for the 'Blackberry browser' on moible.blackberry.com where i got it from. I have that suppressed by T-Mobile and have instead the 'Web n Walk' branded version (on BIS). Maybe that's the prob. Anyway, it loads and then freezes the app.
Curiously 1.6 and BB App world neither offer me the upgrade to 1.7. Maybe they 'know' it won't work and that's why?

This wasn't a slow restart - it was a loop of continuous reboots. Five minutes to booting, it would go black, the red LED would light again, and it would start over. Finally got it wiped, reloaded OS, loaded new FB, then restored 3rd party backup and such, and all seems fine. Not sure what the heck happened - and not sure the app update was worth all the grief. Would like to see a list of what was actually updated in this release. There must be something, but I've not found it yet. Thanks for all the suggestions.!

The new FB allows you to see different feeds, instead of just status updates. The default view is the 'News Feed' view.

wow.
i love how app world has updated me about it.....NOT.
stupid thing.
glad i have nothing to do and was going through forums I dont usually.
EDIT: i like the new facebook. the whole drop down box to select what you want to look at is nice, but status updates and news feed, pretty much the same.
