Default Best OS Upgrade

Poll, sort of

I've been running on .546 for some months now, and have really been waiting to move to something else, due to these problems that I didn't experience with .246 (it seems, though I have had my awesome torch for 10 months, and was very happy to get off of .450):

- Lag in browser -- whether in loading or zoom/moving around on pages, or merely sometimes in between pages
- Emails at least once or twice every other day not being sent due to "general failure," having to resend
- In summer, OS/battery running hot often with just 1 or 2 apps running, having to take back off and stick phone up to AC to cool down in order to car-charge
- Lag in Universal Search
- Sometimes general lag overall
- Lag in camera in taking photos

So, I know that some OS upgrades work better for others, and I know someone will say "go back to what works," but, for some of you out there that have tried most if not all of the OS upgrades, and perhaps experienced some/if not all of the problems above with .546, I'm really looking for a better OS to go to other than back to .450 or .246.

Anyone?

And I just wanted to add that I have checked out what I could find about the 9810 and 9850/9860, look forward to checking them out hands on, but most probably will just wait until the QNX OS come out, hopefully in early 2012.

I started out with .246 on an identical pair of 9800's I bought for my wife and I around last Christmas. We both quickly fell in love with how they worked. Recently, I felt compelled to uppgrade the OS and put 600 on both our phones. My battery life dropped to one half of it's prior life or usage and at least two features stopped working. I downgraded back to 246 and they seem to be working great again and so far, my battery life seems to be back to its original ability. Strangely enough, my wife says her phone is doing fine on 600. And they were bought together, same phone exactly.

The only thing I have done or added to my phone is Google Maps which shouldn't be that big of a deal. Otherwise, our phones are still the same. Go figure.

So, it's hard to say, some upgrades may have some incompatability bugs that only affect certain people who do certain things. Thankfully, RIM thought well enough to make a downgrade easy enough if you don't like what an upgrade does.

Personally, I am leaving my phone alone now. I like how it works. I'll upgrade when a buy a new Blackberry a few years from now. But you can try it and maybe you will like something it adds, maybe not. But I guess trying it doesn't hurt.

If you leave Google Maps running in the background, it will constantly keep syncing it's location to the GPS and identifying it's location, this could continuously draw battery power and *may* lead to a faster battery drain.

After a week with .600 -- not great, in fact occasional sudden drops in battery life; more than the occasional browser glitches; and overall sluggishness at times -- I reverted back to .246 (after some months with .546). MUCH better with .246! Sort of might miss the thumbnails in the browser for bookmarks and history, and the flashing charge light, but overall much happier to be back with .246!

I'm running .448 since my provider doesnt support a higher version yet and i must say i havent noticed any strange problems yet. i always upgrade to the latest version, since i never had problems with the latest versions being released for my provider yet. i have my 9800 almost since the release date, the blackberry OS in that time for the 9800 was just horrible. it was like the thing was still running a beta test OS
