BIg Cinuglar Bill again...

I have the BB UNL plan on cingular, why am I getting billed for data usage?? It seems the charges are coming under "WIRELESS INTERNET EX"
I use the WAP.CINGULAR APN, I have BB weather, and 411 and RAMBLE on my BB. Am I correct to assume that none of those when using the WAP.CINGULAR APN, should incur any additional charge?

I am curious to hear what Cingular has to say about this as a new Blackberry user. These are the exact same things I will be doing with my device.

I have a similar set up without RAMBLE. I do have the WAP.CINGULAR APN however and all I was billed for was my voice plan and unlimited BB.

What we found at work was the browser and email are inluded in unlimitted data, but second party apps are not..
The aftermarket software package that we use is billed at the .004 or so sents a kb.

How would Cingular be able to identify the difference in data being transfered?

The bottom line here is no one knows for sure what's right.
No one can give you a straight answer, not even the folks at Cingular.
Some people haven't seen extra charges when using the wap.cingular APN while others have. Some people have gone months without seeing extra charges then all of a sudden they start appearing.
The only constant seems to be that those who were hit with extra charges were all able to get them removed by calling into customer service.
P.S. "WIRELESS INTERNET EX" is the pay-per-use internet feature which is needed to use the wap.cingular APN since it's apparantly not part of the Blackberry plan.

So seattle18, you're able to use the wap.cingular APN?

I read on here that you CANNOT use any third party apps without the APN in place. Always get "unable to open tunnel' errors..

That's my experience.
When I set up my account I could not access any third party apps. I called in and they added the WIRELESS INTERNET EX line and I immediately was able to start using Verichat. They removed it from account to test and I couldn't access it again.
I do not have the "BB UNL Retail $0.00" line in my bill like Seattle18 has. I wonder if this has something to do with it.
More and more it looks like going to a hosted Exchange service makes the most sense. Then I can go through MDS and not have to worry about the "what-if" that huge bill comes one day.

Did they agree to remove the charges when you called in?
Did they remove the line? Can you still use the wap.cingular APN?
I just opened my bill and sure enough there are $6.96 worth of charges all with the line "Data Transfer wireless internet ex" there.
Aurggghhhhh.

After spending over 24 hours with Cingular phone "support", that's exactly what I did. My time is worth more than the $20/month Link2Exchance is costing me. It also solved my
sync problems with my MAC.
The other nice thing is that I can us all the toys (weather, sports, PocketDay, stocks, ...)
internationally at no incremental cost over the unlimited international BB plan, and do not
have to think about getting a huge bill from Cingular international data.

Yeah dulcamara.
I'm going to wait for my next bill. If I continue to see these extra charges "Exchangemymail.com" here I come.

I was just going to post a question about that....What is BES? What are the advantages of it? If I or we signed up for exhangemymail.com, what would I or we need cingular (or our respective carrier) for? other than voice? would that include internet usage?
I am VERY tech savy and build computers, however I am brain dead when it comes to BES
