Default 8220 Flip Wifi problem

Please Login to Remove!

Woo, I figure it out already.

--------------------------------------------------------------

hello Pro,

I am a new guy here, just got my 8220 flip couple days ago. The only reason I bought it is the wifi function comes with it. However, I dig as deep as I can, still get nothing.

My situation is this:

Rogers cellphone service, without data plan. I reinstall the OS .200 which includes Asian language.

From my point of view, Wifi means the phone is able to connect to a router for internet purpose, so I believe that it can access the internet through Wifi.

I might be wrong. Please point out.

I set it auto/manual connect to my router. It looks connected, but cannot get IP.

I tried the Opera MINI, same result.

Please help.

Where does it say it can't get IP?

If you have UMA logo (capital letters) your blackberry managed to connect to Rogers servers, perform handshake and configure your voice calls to go through WiFi. You can't have that without IP.

Can you make phone call on UMA?

When blackberry 'seems to be connected' open Manage Connections, Services Status - what does it say there?

thx for reply, I configure it correctly now. it works. You are right. The only reason I can't get IP is that I turn data service off. Once I turn it on. Works perfectly.
