Default 8700 or 7100

Please Login to Remove!

If you were in the market for a new berry, but where not sure which to get

has anyone changed to the 7100, and got use to the typing?

or would you go with the 8700?

or even better stay with the 7520 for another 5 months and hope that something better comes out like a clamshell or something better?

thanks

I think its not the Berry that is important, but the carrier itself.

I think it is both carrier and device. I doubt I could ever get use to the suretype, but if a phone was more important, I hear they are better phones. I had a 7290 and now 8700 and like the keyboard better, but if a clamshell comes out next year, I would be all over that

When you say clamshell, do you mean flip phone style?

I use a 7100 and don't mind the keyboard. Initialy it took a bit for the system to "learn" what words I use most; after that it was fine.

Now between a 7100 and a 8700 I'd go with the 8700. The issue is, I get a pretty good deal with T-Mobile (1000 minutes, unlimited night/weekend + unlimited data for 57 bucks a month), so I'm kinda waiting off with the 8700 until either Cingular can match that price or I can find one unlocked.

Just as a personal experience and info, I sell all the above mentioned blackberries, except the 8700, we dont' carry cingular. don't go with the Nextel 7100i from your 7520, I have switched about 10 customers over and spent about 20 minutes on the line with BB Tier 2 support to get things to ring and the data switched over, so I haven't been pleased with it.
I myself am a T-Mobile user, 7290 from a 7100t, never liked the keyboard, I could type near as fast, if you dont do a lot of replies or their short its great, but if you type a lot, stay with a full sized bb

I am testing the 7100I for my business area for about a week now. I must say its way better than the 7520. It diid take a day or so to get used to suretype. Can't give any feedback on the 8700 (not on Nextel).

Default 7100i would be a good choice

I currently own a 7100i and I sware by it. The suretype keyboard does tend to get on my nerves; especially when typing fast. I've owned a 7100t and a 7520 in the past and got rid of both in less than a month so...

Default Suretype

I have a small business and have personally used, 7510, 7520, 7100i, 8700. If you only occassionally email and then only short emails - Suretype is amazingly good. Soif you are phone centric then the 7100i is a great choice and is a wonderful phone. No issues. If however there is a lot of email involved I recommend the 7520 or the 8700. Overall I like the 8700 best, but there is the issue of Direct Connect on the Nextel network which is a plus. That said there is no issue with the 8700 and there is a major advantage in that the processor on the 8700 is fast and more fuel efficient than the Nextel processors. You can not go wrong with any of these smart phones.

I just switched from the 7520 to the 7100i. I was real leary because of the sure type keyboard. I have had it for about 24hrs and I like it. It's a little different from the 7520, but i am getting faster and faster each email i send out or respond to. One of the things about sure type is, to just keep typing and read over the email after u finish.
