Unhappy The incredible shrinking memory issue ..... !

Please Login to Remove!

I know that the curve has less memory out of the box than the pearl but geezs, I have the same exact apps, actually a few less than my old pearls and each day the mem on my curve gets less and less!

I am NOT an email power user, a few saved here and there, no pics, videos, etc in memory - I have a GB card with all large stuff on it.

Here's what I have installed:

Journal bar
Total fitness
Free news
Pocket Day Pro
Multi Alarm
Jive talk
411
BB Alerts
Repligo

with all this on the pearl, and a few more I still had like 27-30 mbs left.
with the curve, I have less than 14mb?? And each day it gets less even with a battery pull.

Question is I only had it for 3 weeks, whats gonna happen done the line as the mem gets worse?? I'm afraid one day it will give me an out of memory error.

I have a few days til the 30 days are up - wondering if I should get a new one?

Has anyone else seen this with there 8300?
Will RIM release a patch?
Do the 8800's have this issue?

Thanks for any input in advance

Its not that the Curve has less memory, both have 64MB. The newer OS takes up a little bit more space. Its very possible one of your applications is eating up space. Are all of them certified for use with the Curve?

yea im on the same fence here... im not going to return my Curve because i love it so much but this whole space issue is really starting to piss me off. I check it daily only to see it decreasing by the day. I do not even have any power apps installed except for Google Maps. Any ideas? I dont want to keep pulling the battery out just to free up space. There has to be a better idea.

Did you run and allow the setup wizard to complete when you first powered up the 8300? That's the only way to delete the additional installed languages.

I reinstalled the latest Rogers firmware however remove all languages except English and French. I have installed BBWeather, Repligo, empower mail, viewer, opera mini, sudoku, Texas holdem and I have left 23668880 Bytes!!!

How about others?

When I was using the BlackBerry 8800 my free onboard memory was between 25-27MB with the Curve it always sits around 12MB free onboard memory. I'm using the same 3rd party apps also and using no language packs, I just chalked it up to the OS being larger and using more space. I haven't had any issues like email, text messages or call logs disappearing.

Try this:

I use Google Maps vs. the pre-installed Telenav application. I just deleted Telenav and it freed up 15MB of memory!

I did confirm with the software developers from each app that they work ok on the curve so no app is installed wrongly.

I think both the original ATT and the new rogers ones have leaks somewhere. I noticed it more after running Zen theme. But I fluctuate between 20 something and 12 or less. And I seem to regularly have the losing messages (read ones now, new seem to stay this time) and logs. My 8700 never had the losing message issue (or perhaps it is a feature to clear memory). But I did notice a number of non user initiated restarts with the 8700. I guess they cleared memory. Perhaps there was a higher threshold for those on the 8700 vs the 8300 which would rather remove messages?

I say you all go back to the 8700 series! YEAH BABY! Haha...just playing. Just a line from a jealous T-Mobile user who doesn't have an 8300 yet

But I do have lots of available memory
