It's SUPPOSED TO take up to 2 Gigs, but early devices had problems with cards over 1 Gig. The 8800 works with a 2 Gig card, and updated firmware has been released for the Pearl (mostly for DST 2007), so maybe it works now.

When you get the card, put it in your BB FIRST, and say NO to the Mass Storage option!

I have a 2GB Micro SD card for my pearl and it works great. When i hook up my blackberry to my computer i can access the card but if i put the card in my SD card reader windows xp wont recognize it. I am assuming its because of a driver issue (it works for my 1gb card). Either way, i can access it through the blackberry and that is what matters to me!

How did you get Mass Media Mode to work with Vista? I'm running Vista Ultimate and it keeps asking for a driver. XP works fine. Sprint support doesn't know anything about it

Did you install the latest version of the Desktop Manager? That will likely install the drivers you need.

....and welcome to the forums.

Does anyone know if the 2gb micro-sd would work on the cingular BBpearl refurb?
I'm thinking about upgrading to the 2gb, but i want to be sure it works first.

Ok guys... I'm stumped... bought a 2 GB MicroSD card and put it in my Pearl with no luck... formats and reads okay in the device (shows up as 1.8 GB after formatting) but hooking up with the PC doesn't bring up the "removable drive" or anything of the sort...

Checked for everything obvious... all versions are latest including desktop manager, etc., etc. Toggled media card mass storage mode between ON and OFF, still no luck...

The 2 GB MicroSD card doesn't even show up in the Media Manager... dunno what's going on...

TIA

Do you have any other network drives mapped? Disconnect them and then try. Mass Storage likes to be the lowest available drive letter mapping.

Might work!

Yeah... I hear ya... nope... no network drives here... have that problem at work when I plug in a flash drive... have to go to disk administrator and change the drive letter for the flash drive... kept checking disk administrator for the 2 GB to show somewhere but didn't happen so I know its not a drive letter issue...

Any other ideas??

Yep, it should. TigerDirect is a reputable company. I haven't tried the "premier" card but it should be fine.

I have 4.2.2.12, I believe that's the latest version. Here's the thing, if I plug my BB into a computer running XP it shows up as a removable drive just fine (w/o) DM installed. I tried uninstalling all of my USB Root Hubs in Vista and reboot, as it started to reinstall them the Memory card showed up as a removable drive and I was able to copy stuff to it, until Vista start wanting to find a driver then it stopped working. So there's something fishy cuz my friend's 8800 works fine w/ Vista. Mine is a Sprint 8830. I guess I'll try to reinstall DM again

Hi,

First off, i have the BB 8830 World Edition from Verizon. I'm am a bit confused with the MicroSD card. There are 2 versions of it. One of them is the regular MicroSD which only supports up to 2gb and the other one is the MicroSD SDHC which can support up to 8gb. Which one is compatible with my BB 8830? Thanks in advance.

They're all compatible. Up to 4Gb for sure. The 8's aren't even out yet.
