Default Seidio skin for 8700 review with photos

Please Login to Remove!

Just received my silicone/rubber skin for my 8700C today from Seidio.

I ordered it last week, on friday I believe, received it today. So shipment went pretty fast (even though suprisingly, their office is like 6 miles away from my home!!) heh.

Anyways, fitment is suprisingly good. No instructions, or care information was provided, but I dont need it anyways.

All of the holes line up well for microphone, speakerphone, charger port, etc. I dont like how the silicone sleeve is close to the outer letters, ie, delete button, letter a, alt, etc, but im sure ill get used to it, and am happy it will protect my phone.

Onto the photos !

I give it two thumbs up !

Now, just need to get the screen protector I ordered..

I put my thoughts in lgreenberg's thread, but I'll copy/paste it here.
----------------
Thanks for the great review LG. I got 8700c about 3 weeks ago, and read every single article from you and Seattle.

I ordered the Seidio skin/holster combo and have been using it for about a week. Overall, its a decent skin/holster combo, but I would like to make 4 points:

1) It doesn't look as ugly as in the photo. I thougt twice about buying it since LG's picture show it as bluish-jelly like tint. However, you won't even notice it after a week. It has a nice feeling that it's protected from minor bumps, and the grip feels nice in your hands. Regarding lint, I keep it outside in the holster (not in my pocket), but I don't have any major lint buildup.

2) Holster is nice with the clasp and the felt inner lining. I can easily get my beautiful 8700c in and out with one hand. However, the holster sit a bit high. I'm a slightly bigger man with the side of my gut hanging out, and it sorta pinches my skin when I sit. I just wished it was lower...or maybe I just need to lose my gut.

3) As evident in the pictures, the earpiece hole doesn't exactly lineup with the earpiece. I tried over and over again to re-align it, but it ain't gonna work. I don't think it actually blocks any sound, but it looks a little sloppy.

4) Lastly, the square cut for the screen, is more like a slight trapezoid. It may be due to the stretching of the material, but the lower end of the square is wider than the top. You can also see it in LG's photos. Minor complaint really, but still noticable for those who spend 75% of their days with blackberries.

Maybe David Chang from Seidio can fix my gripes and send me another one?

i like it too, i got the skin/case combo.. the skin rocks.. only problem i have with it is the two bars on the side of the screen are a bit loose, but i guess thats because they dont have a lot of support since the screen is so big.. also on the case the lip that closes over the top has a bit too much plastic.. those are just nitpick things tho, its a great setup

Exclamation Skin Case

Thinking about ordering one myself... Maybe a dumb questions but how does it go on? Does it snap on?

Hopefully they will come out with the skin case in a smoked grey.

No it doesn't "snap" on.

The Blackberry just slides into the skin and the skin stays on via friction.

Igreenberg, which screenprotector would you recommend to go with the skin case?

Does it fit into the holster well or do you have to "play" around with it?

You can not use a skinned 8700 in the stock holster or in the regular Seidio holster. It doesn't fit.

It's for this reason Seidio offers a holster for use with the skin. You can buy the two togetheer in a packaged deal. Check the Seidio web site.

lgreenberg:

I see the photos for the right side of the BB with the cut-outs for the trackwheel and escape button. Is it also cut out for the left side for the Profile Button. The Seidio photos appear to show no cut-out for it.

I am away right now, won't be home until Sunday, and don't have the skin with me to check but I believe the picture is right. There is no cut out for the side convienence key. However, it's quite easy to press the button through the skin.

I had a Speck rubber skin for a 7290. Anyome familiar with both skins....which fits better and has better quallity??? I have an open face Fortte coming soon and if it doesn't work for me I would see this skin as alternative.

TIA for any info.

It looks much better than the Speck toughskin for the 7520- especially if the holster actually works. I wonder if there is a chance that seidio will offer a skin for the 7520?

They finally did it... jet black skin case is now available. Not sure how long it has been up there... could have missed it earlier, but mine was ordered tonight.
