Question Email Doubt

Please Login to Remove!

Hello everyone, I just came back from getting my Blackberry Curve 8520 but I have some doubts.

I linked my email, and can receive my emails on my phone, but I would like to be able to refresh the inbox when I want to, not at any time it wants.
I don't want it to tell me every time I received a new mail, I want to manually tell the phone to refresh my mailbox. Is it possible? How? Or should I download another app?

Welcome to BBF.

BlackBerrys only work via push e-mail - the e-mail is set to your phone. You can't set it to "pull", or request, e-mail on your schedule.

You can turn off the notifications of new e-mail if it bothers you.

I wanted to do so because I am allowed monthly to 500MB of data, when I cross that line, the internet will go slower. I thought I could do it like in the iPod touch or iPhone, when you open the app, it will refresh the stuff.

How do I turn the notifications for my email off?

The BB isn't an Apple product. Email is push and you can't change it. Maybe you should have done some more homework before you bought it?

Default 500mb is plenty

Hi, I'm a fairly frequent user of my BB8900 and have never even come close to 500mb in a month. I don't tether so my usage is all on the BB.

I think that the most i have ever used was a month of 80mb.

Are you doing lots of streaming media? Also, Rogers gives me a way to monitor my usage for data from the BB. Forgot to look at your carrier, but perhaps they do too?

Enjoy the BB!

What is the difference, in amount of data consumed, between 10 emails arriving at different times, or 10 emails arriving at once? Plus the BB will only download the first 2KB of data unless you want more. Add compression, and 500MB of data is more than you'll need for email.
