Default mass deletions on Blackberry

Please Login to Remove!

Is there a way to delete a days worth of phone logs without doing each one at a time. Somthing like "shift and mark" and then delete?

You can select a group of items (CAP-Scroll, I believe) and then either press Delete or click the wheel and select delete. Or, you can delete EVERYTHING prior to a given date (goto the date, click wheel, and select Delete Prior). You might be able to view the call log only, and then use the Delete Prior method -- but that will delete all event prior to that date.

Sorry, I did ask if I made sense. Somtimes I have a way of asking a question that even makes me wonder what I said!

Can I use the same procedure to perform a mass deletion on calendar and tasks? I've got a couple of users who have thousands of records in the calendar and when I synch it, it takes a long time to slog through those entries.

For quicker mass deletions of specific emails or a specific type of message (i.e. SMS), use the Search feature.

That way you can simply select all search results using Cap+Scroll matching a search and mass-delete in the search results.

The SEARCH method will work on the calendar, too -- but only in OS4.0 I believe. I don't think you can search the calendar in 3.7.1.41. I also don't think you can CAP-Scroll in the calendar - in any view. However, I do think that there is a DELETE PRIOR setting, in order to delete all older messages.

One way to deal with this issue is to set the sync options on the desktop manager to only copy appoinments from X weeks in the past, and X weeks in the future. Then, when you sync, the overflow is automatically deleted.
